Why am I getting a Chicago channel on my basic cable...

Is WGN9 some kind of special channel? Is it like the only WB channel? I'm confused. Anyone else get this channel?
 
WGN Channel 9 is a regular local station over here in Chicago. Usually when I'm on vacation out of state most hotels'/resorts' TV's carry it for the Chicago folk.
 
I also get WGN here in the DC metro area. I guess they figure there's plenty of Chicago-based transplants to warrant carrying the station?

 
i get it in san diego too, works well since i moved from chicago earlier this years, its nice to catch up with watzz going on in chi town once in a while

I get WGN in California. I say the only reason they exist is to play crappy sitcoms to help those actors get some royalities.

That and Cubs games. Their local programming isn't much better. From 3:30AM it goes like this:

Matlock (until 4:30)
Andy Griffith Show (until 5)
Morning News (until 9)
Live with Regis and Kelly (until 10)
Maury (until 11)
Who Wants to be a Millionare (until 12)
Noon News (until 1)
Maury (again, until 2)
Home Delivery (until 3)
Kids WB\WB until whenever
Then you get more news at 9

They used to have a solid block of Maury, Jenny Jones, and Sally only interrupted by the news at Noon. Yee haw, white trash TV!

That's cool I guess. In the dorms last year I'd watch Maury and Springer almost every day.
 
WGN rocked when i was in elementary school. back in the day when the cable box had a wire connected to it. They would air my favorite shows just as i got home from school. Gilligans island, scooby-doo, and i cant forget the Godzilla weeks.
