And, what are the specs of your system? Some pre-built systems come with trial software that expires after a set amount of time - to continue to access some features, you have to purchase the software. Dell does this on some of their systems with graphical software.

Apologies. It comes up with something saying, with a header of "Context Menu Platimum - UNREGISTERED VERSION" then it goes on to say about;
Register right now and get:
explorer shell context and explorer menus....... and so on

Try going to your 'add/remove programs' and uninstall a program called MovieSubtitleSearcher

Could be the fix you are looking for. Good luck!

type msconfig in your search bar (above your windows icon in the lower left corner) and see what is starting up with Windows that shouldn't be. It could also give a clue to what needs uninstalled to prevent that message from coming up. I believe what you have is either some sort of expired program, or malware/spyware of some sort. Good luck!

It is probably something that was bundled with software that you installed.

Try installing Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and running a full scan on your system. If that doesn't fix it, you'll need to post a list of your installed software so we can figure out what it might be installed with so you can get rid of it.

My first thought is some sort of malware. I would do what Steltek suggested.

Whose photos? Whose slide show? What is the URL involved in such a request? This really is bogus. The fact that your OS and Office are legit is irrelevant

You have evidently been victimized by malware or a software scam.

After a little research, I think the software at issue is some form of nagware or ransomware that was installed with another product - I'll bet it pops up for a lot more things than just trying to view photos. The trick now is to figure out what it was installed with so you'll know what to uninstall to get rid of it. My prior advice about running Malwarebytes still applies, though.

I'll try as you suggested and to the other people who posted i say the following.
Nothing in msconfig

I’ll try deleting things and see how I get on

(Whose photos? Whose slide show? What is the URL involved in such a request?)
My photos, my slideshow, what URL? Are you drunk

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO GAVE ME HELPFUL RESPONSES

Those answers mean something. If you are being asked to register, then that process must be online, and it has an address, i.e., URL. No, I am not drunk. :)

What program are we dealing with? If they are your photos, you must have them stored in a program that includes a slideshow. Appartently you have been victimized by some sneaky bundled software. Identify the rogue program and uninstall it.

I would make sure my photos are in a safe place, and then do all the above house cleaning suggestions.

Windows 7 and Vista have a good photo viewer built in. You can also download and install a good free one like Irfanview or Gimp. This registration gambit suggests you have somehow saved your photos off line in "the cloud." Almost smells like Facebook or something similar. BTW, that has a URL! :)

I have scanned and searched and have even deleted a newly installed program and have also scanned my computer with malware antimalware and spybot and nothing signicantly came up. I have restarted my computer and have even done a repair from my Vista disc and nothing has been found.

I apologise for showing my frustration.

I still have not found a resolution to my issue.

Can anyone come up with any suggestions please?

Thank you

Well, you have to give us more information than what you are telling us. Get it to come up, then take a screen shot by hitting your Prnt Scrn (Print Screen) button at the top right corner of your keyboard. Paste that into Microsoft Paint, save it, and then upload to imgur.com, and post the link here.

OP not sure if you are going to come back here but in case someone else comes here with the same problem can you confirm what program was opening the pictures? Was it windows photo viewer or something else and did you try right clicking the photos and setting the default program to open pictures back to the standard windows program?

I am not sure which program it was. I would always put that kind of thing down to assst others.

My apologies.
