Spidey07:
I wouldn't dis on civic so fast. No i've never owned them and yes I used to dis them until a respectable engine with DOHC came out=Si. I would much rather work on that than a prelude. Hondas greatest asset is hp/liter or power to weight ratios. Big v8's no one cares about the weight because the engine itself is so powerful. But I'm a Gen 4 prelude owner (LOVED IT!) and can tell you that the prelude is a lot more torquey than civic/teg but for serious racers (drag) they are the ones chosen over prelude. Watch import racing events if you don't believe me. The fastest tend to be hatchback civics (Callos, Papadakis, etc) Put in a H22A motor then, yes, but not in prelude body. The only problem is the si doesn't have ABS, but thats really more for daily drivers anyhow.
For the record, i despise ricers perhaps more than anyone because i'm into the import (at this current stage east import due to price constraints i don't have the luxury of enjoying west imports) scene. As someone so astutely pointed out before, NOT ALL MODIFIED JAPANESE CARS ARE RICERS. We call ricers the ones that are overdone, the cars that 'appear' cosmetically out of place on the road and more likely to be seen on the race track. Of course if they have the speed to justify the stickers, people usually turn the other way and not even mention how ridiculous that big rear wing looks on a FWD car where downforce is actually usable to the front, aboutthe stickers, etc. Not all modified japanese cars have drivers that drive recklessly. A lot of us know our limits, a lot of us will not race unless their is a clear open road. a lot of us will SPANK your charger or 67 Stingray. Don't get me wrong, I love muscle cars. Some of my American dream cars include 67 stingray, 65 stang, shelby cobra, and plymouth 'cuda. The cars are beautiful, and some of them, particularly cobra, stingray are fast as hell. But seriously, some japanese cars deserve more respect, such as Rx7, and Supra. A 9 or 10 second car of ANY nationality deserves respect IMO. The main problem with Jap cars is most are FWD, and above about 600 HP, you can break the axle, not to mention serious loss control over even much less HP than 600. But handling is still better for the most part in FWD cars, and when racing on a street, thats where the hondas can shine. Also you guys can't forget that a lot of us are young people, unmarried, under 25, and to purchase a modern muscle car like z28, t bird, etc is just too $$$ for insurance rates. And why should they? You can get a S/C kit on a Civic Si and it will give respectable speed, while keeping insurance premiums low. Just cuz some dumbass kid just got through watching the Fast and the Furious, don't go and start blaming entire Japanese auto industry. Read this:

That DUMBASS driver was a Vette owner. Why not dis people like this? How about the other idiot who is a Lambo owner?
Now look at this and tell me if Japanese cars are really THAT bad:

This car has beaten Hennessy Viper.
Dog on ricers and their cars by all means but don't start generalizing. And some idiot posted earlier that bodykit doesn't make a car look better. What planet are you from? I'm not saying go get a Veilside, Shogun, or Combat bodykit, but a clean, preferably OEM bodykit makes ANY car (at least what i've seen) look sportier, even Cavalier, or Camaro. Why NOT get it? Yes speed is very important but if it makes your car look better, go get it. A lot of muscle car freaks spend countless hours polishing/washing their rides, getting chrome upgrades, special paint etc etc. Why is it okay for them to do it and not import drivers? Just because they choose to dress their car in a different fashion (bodykit, tail lights, spoiler (yes, a lot of their choices are not clean and very ugly looking)) doesn't make it inferior. Whats the point of the ram air hood on the Camaro SS, or T/A WS6. yeah, they are functioning but if you compare the 1/4 time between SS and Z28 there is no difference. Its just for SHOW. With the style of domestic cars the past 15-20 years, there is GOOD reason imports have taken off. IMO, a stock supra looks a HELL lot nicer than any modern American car excluding vette or Viper.
