why all the ratting out threads?

the last couple of days, i have noticed a bunch of threads about ratting people out. someone was going to rat someone out for selling copied xbox games, someone else for cheating on a test, etc. Is it about revenge? do you have something against them? i just dont get it. i in no way condone people doing things illegal, but try to stay out of other peoples business. i am not the police, and thats what the police are for. i kinda feel like they will get whats coming to them in the long run, but i usually dont feel like its my place to get involved unless something is directly affecting me. in fact, it may put you in harms way if someone finds out you ratted them out. just my 2 cents. anyone else feel this way?

just wanted to vent

I guess I just "ratted" for calling the police dept, because someone backed into my car.

What do you think is lower on coolness scale?

Turning someone in for hitting _YOUR_ car, pretending nothing happened and taking off or hitting someone's car and leaving pretending you didn't hit it just because there's no visible damage?

like i said, it is a different story if something is directly affecting you. I would have also called in if someone hit MY car, or was involved in anything that was affecting ME directly. I just dont want to be superman, and try to patrol every single thing that happens around me

What do you gain by griping about other people reporting about other people's acts that you are not part of?
