Why all the rage about AIG bonus money but none for the 1000's of earnmarks and other wasteful government spending?

What am I missing? Isn't the bonuses a drop in the bucket compared to the rest? And if you want to get technical, the earnmarks could be seen as bonuses to the politicians and their districts/supporters.

Some of us are pissed off about both, but since this forum is 99% partisan hacks they only care about one or the other.

Yeah but this isn't exclusive to BHO or dems, wasteful spending is awash on both sides of the aisle

That and it's a pretty damn effective diversion from the massive Budget BHO is pushing.

Funny when reagean did it, it was great and the Dems were wrong and dumb. To this day republicans still defend it.
Obama does the same thing and its wrong and dumb etc...

Just go away troll.

I think there are alot of congress-people on both sides of the aisle that are happy that the media isn't focused on earmarks.

Really? You are trying to equate what? with BHO's bungling of the bailouts and budget?

I'm not sure how you can be critical of one side considering the other side has done the same thing. Tell me, did you admire Reagan's handling of the budget?

Then there are those who hope that AIG mentalities are rewarded on the taxpayer teat. I mean it has to be one or the other as you seem to imply.

The reason is that it isn't the cash, it's the principle that individuals can run things into the ground, collect huge bonuses besides, then take them even though the government is bailing them out.

Because of millions, there are untold billions in liabilities. Then they get rewarded for it.

That's why.

No where have I placed ALL blame on BHO, junior. Did you even READ what I posted or did you just let your assflaps start spewing without reading?

??? Try reading what I posted. This isn't about Reagan, Bush, or any other diversion away from your messiah. Are any of you diverters going to challenge my position that this latest AIG flap(which was known to some in the Admin months ago) provides an effective diversion from the massive budget BHO has been trying to push but has not been very successful doing?

I asked a simple question. Care to answer it?

That is a whole different discussion and has exactly ZERO to do with my comments in this thread or the topic at hand.

Seeing as how pundits and politicians alike have been talking about earmarks for literally decades and talking about the bailout of AIG for a few months, I think your premise is flawed from the start. Remember the Bridge to Nowhere? There was a lot of rage about that earmark spending. Just because AIG happens to be the issue du jour for compulsive rageaholics does not mean that no one has ever complained about earmarks or wasteful government spending.

come on Cad - Obama hasn't even been in office for 'months', yet you are going to spew forth crap like "which was known to some in the Admin months ago". We get it, you don't like Obama - Messiah - Hussein - whatever the nickname of the day is - he could solve all the world's problems tomorrow, and you would still be crying about something, it's just your nature.

As for the Op's question - rewarding people who screwed up with taxpayer funds - is it really hard to figure out the outrage? Earmarks are often used for legit purposes - I think the process that allows them to be created sucks, but it is what it is - at the very least, at least they are not hidden as much anymore.

There's nothing to be afraid of. We're all adults here. Just answer the question.
