Why all the iTunes hate?

Do you have a Zune HD? I need to find a store with them and see how the interface is compared to an iPod. Otherwise I need to replace my wife's iPod with a 16GB model but we have 20GB of music.

It would not be a big deal to shrink our music to fit 16GB but Zune's are cheaper.

For a company that develops cutting edge software (albeit in a strange unknown language spoken only in Appleworld) I find it mind numbingly incredible that they can't even make sure an iTunes 12 installation on a Windows 10 PC actually works. For Christ's sake - surely they can fix this minor glitch that causes sooooo many people to be driven spare in frustration.

MediaMonkey is also my personal choice. It's a pretty cool software and has more than enough features. Never encountered lagging problems either.

The odd thing about iTunes for Windows being crap is that (at least IMO), Apple would use it as a means of saying "look how easy to use and logical our way of doing things is" (ie. MacOS). Instead it's a completely illogical (at least from an average person's perspective who doesn't know the software's history) hodge-podge of unrelated features all thrown into one app.

For starters, remove the iTunes store from this app completely (ie. any method of buying music); on a generic PC that should be done through the user's web browser of choice. Second, change the name of the program so when one says the app name it shouldn't match at least two mostly unrelated services. The clue should be in the name.

Perhaps just like MS copies Apple, Apple copies MS, what with moronic product naming like "Windows Live" or ".net", and just splurge the prefix across as many bits of software or services as possible.

I'd be fairly happy if there was one bit of software for managing music between devices, another for other types of data sync, another for iDevice backup, and that's it (AFAIK). Each separate piece of software ought to be able to run independently of the others and be separate downloads (or if you want to download "the mother of all iDevice management software", you can download them all in one go).

Also, they should get rid of that stupid business of an Apple app auto-starting when you plug your iDevice in. Windows has an autoplay feature: USE IT. Furthermore, that would give users an easy way of downloading camera data from their iDevice without having to go around the houses.

I certainly don't disagree with the general sentiment of the thread. I hate iTunes. A lot. It has refused to sync with my wife's iPod Touch. It's an older model, but that shouldn't matter when it comes to just moving songs to it. Wipes and resets only get it to work temporarily.

You know it's bad when people "help" by suggesting ways to avoid using iTunes at all.

iTunes is just a monolithic tire yard on fire.

ITunes just decided to change every album in my library to the same artist and that's never happened before. Good thing that I had my library backed up because I'm having to restore it as I type this.

yes that if how i feel about itunes and don't have it used with windows 7. used to have it with windows xp but tunes doesn't support it anymore.

iTunes was barely okay. Then came the iConcertCal plugin and iTunes was awesome. Then Apple released a new version of iTunes which broke the plugin so now iTunes is back to being barely okay.

FWIW, I run version 11.0 of iTunes under Win10, and it performs just fine. I think Apple screwed the pooch when they "updated' the interface, which is why I downgraded back to 11. I use it because it's the ONLY music application I know of that will stream to my Pioneer AVR, (which it does perfectly) and has a great selection of free streaming radio stations. I would be glad to try another program that does what iTunes does, but have not as yet found one. Any ideas?

What standard does your receiver need for streaming? I am guessing it is not DLNA since every other app supports that.

Well, my AVR supports AirPlay (Apple got to Pioneer quickly with that one), so iTunes works as it should; tried MediaMonkey, and it could not find my AVR using DLNA, which is odd, because earlier I successfully streamed from my phone (GS5) to the AVR with no problem, using the phone's default music app via DLNA. Soooo, not sure what to try next. I guess I'd like to hear from any Pioneer AVR owners (mine's the VSX-1021) who have found an application (other than iTunes) that streams from their PC to their AVR using DLNA. Is that enough acronyms? 😉

I got a new Yamaha receiver 2 years ago and i do not stream to it. I tried their online radio app but it is crude and not worth using. I only use my PS3 to stream to my TV.
