if you have to answer all those questions in complete paragraphs prior to treating the kid there won't be a problem...

the question is very simple in real life: is it my kid or your kid?

Pretty much. And I can assure you that what I would do if it is my kid would be different than if it was your kid, but I would still be there to help in some way if asked or if I knew about it. Been there when I was sick, been there when my wife was sick.

When you try to break down complex questions into black and white, simple, un-nuanced answers...well, you get the political climate we have today. Most things in life just don't work that way.

You want your cake and eat it too. You want to keep the status quo where you can walk into the ER and get fixed up while I pay for it. You want the right to be totally irresponsible and pay nothing for health insurance while paying smucks like me pick up the tab when you or your family gets sick.

Well as of today the law of the land agrees with me and you will have to pay for your own coverage, suck on that freeloader

This bill pisses me off because I don't want any part of your cake. I may be irresponsible with my health, but I don't go running to an ER when I get a paper cut. In fact, I have never voluntarily gone to a hospital for any treatment (when I was very young, I had eye surgery covered under my fathers military-provided insurance), and I don't plan on it. If something happens to me, too damm bad. I may not want to die from an illness or bodily harm, but if that's what happens without medical care so be it.

I am not a freeloader; I have no intention of using medical services regardless of who pays for it. Where's your smartass comments now?

To quote that famous congressman "YOU LIE", get in a car wreck or have a heart attack and yo ass will be the first one in line at the ER :) The prospect of death turns even the biggest of toughguys. And even if you truly are tough enough to die needlessly, when you become unconcious one of your family or just a good samaritan will drag your arse unconcious to the hospital where they will force feed you my cake:)

In my current condition, if I have a heart attack, it will kill me. My family knows my stance - they will not "drag my ass unconscious to a hospital".

You misunderstand me completely; I want no medical care. I don't want to pay for it, for myself or others.

You can believe me or not, it makes no difference. The only thing I'd be "forcing" you to pay for, if I got sick enough to die, is a cheap wooden box and a hole in the ground.

Sorry to hear of your condition:( but I dare say that puts you in a pretty small minority and I would rather hope that cases like yours could be dealt with as the exception with a waiver or something similar. But to advocate that a mandate is wrong for all citizens based on your unique circumstances is shortsighted to say the least
