WHS Question about backups

I downloaded a trial copy of Windows Home Server a while back and I decided I would buy a copy and now that I did it seems that most of the drive backup funtionality is gone. It does not even give me an option as to what volume on the computer to backup. The server is not going to be able to do operating system and full data backups on all my computers. The server has a two 1T drives in it and if I duplicate stuff then that 1T will fill up fast. I am going to try to put alot of stuff on the server and not have so many redundant copies of stuff. I will backup the Operating Systems of all my computers though. The operating systems are on separate volumes.

I'm having trouble deciphering your post. A core ability of WHS is the backup of client computers. Why do you say that the "drive backup functionality is gone?" I'm not sure what that means. The only thing WHS can't backup is it's own OS partition.

I assumed the question was a duplicate of Perrgyg114's recent question in this thread:

The problem was that when WHS is re-installed on top of an previous version (as in upgrading from the evaluation version to the paid version), the clients all need to re-connect to this "new" server. This is done by re-running the WHS client connector software on each of the client PCs.

I got it working. I had to re-install the connector software. The computers were in the computer list but they were grayed out and that is why I never got to the backup configure wizard.
