I have tried it on 3 machines, 2 running 7 64-bit one running XP. I tried wireless and wired, through the router and directly connected and I disabled IPv6 and made sure all clocks were correct and set to PST.

It starts to install, it finds my server and asks for the server password, I input it and it continues and then says "An unexpected error has occured"

The only thing I haven't checked was that the domain "server" was resolving to the right IP address, but considering I downloaded the software from http://server/connect I would think that it is.

Any ideas, nothing is beta, everything is new, the XP computer was brand new, nothing but updates and skype installed on it. Both 7 machines have no beta or any other know problems

Three clients and none can connect? Sounds like a server issue. Is the server on the same subnet?

I had a similar problem with WHS 2011 except I managed to get 1 client to connect.

The problem with mine was this service Net.Tcp Port Sharing Service on each client box.

That service was always "starting" but never started. It was a problem with permissions. I changed the permissions for the logon account "Local Service" so that the service would actually start. I would have to look back through my notes to see exactly what I changed but now WHS 2011 installs and works.

I still hate all the nagging it does; hate that backing up the server is not more granular; hate the Dashboard; hate the lack of disk spanning.

About the only thing I like more about WHS 2011 over the original is that you can restore Windows 7/Server 2008 boxes. Other than that is a much worse application.

Yeah I am not a huge fan. I should have just gotten XP or 7 with a decent backup program

Find (findmyserver) program from Microsoft. It fixes it.

Not always, different issues for different people. I personally had to remove all PCs and backups from WHS and then it would install. Sometimes it is a server issue and not a client issue. I am highly disappointed in WHS2011 vs WHSv1. WHSv1 was much better in just about every way possible.

I agree.
