I've upgraded from WHS to WHS2011 and boy what a pain this is

I still haven't read through all manuals yet but it seems that data storage isn't like WHS and like regular windows. I have RAID 5 with 4tb of available storage. I can connect 4 more HDD to the raid. I was thinking about adding more storage and connecting it to the WHS storage pool but with WHS2011 you just have to make another shared folder on the new RAID array rather than extending your first shared folder from old array.

That's not a big issue but the main issue is that I can't connect to the server.

I have 4 PCs with win7. If I run \\WHS, it asks for user id and pw. I type in correct user id and pw I've setup in WHS2011 and it doesn't go in, prompts for different pw.

so I've setup homegroup in WHS2011 and joined them. I see the server, I can go inside but if I click the shared folder the userid prompts again with same results.

I've enabled file sharing, network discovery, etc. I'm out of answers for this one. :(

Please help ! :)

I had the same issue and had to download a little tool from MS called "findmyserver.exe".. I can't find the link but it worked for me on all 6 of my PC/laptops
If you cant find it let me know and I can send you the file. Its tiny.

This is my early morning typing, so sorry if it might not make sense

are the username and passwords the same on whs2011 as they where on whs? if so when it prompts you for the user name and password try WHS2011Machinename\username and see if it logs in.

if so you may need to delete the old username\password if saved on the windows 7 machines. It is located in control panel -> credential manager
