Who's up for a one-day race?

"PrimeGrid's Challenge Series continues with the New Moon Challenge. Please come join us in ushering in July's New Moon along with a new project to the Challenge Series. A 24 hour (21 July ? 22 July) Challenge is being offered on PrimeGrid's AP26 (Arithmetic Progression of 26 primes) application. Builds are available for Linux, Mac, Windows, PS3, & Solaris."

So far for the year, we haven't gotten any Challenge Series points. For the last challenge, my lone Core 2 Quad may have gotten us one point, pending BOINC verification, by putting TeAm Anandtech in 31st place. But for this challenge, 31st place wouldn't get any points. We need more power.

It's a race, with stats. You can run it on practically anything. And it's just one day, so you can get back to whatever project you were on before quickly. So who's with me? 😀

Edit: Spelled out the date.

Also, please check your PrimeGrid preferences and make sure that in Projects, only "AP26 Search" and maybe "Send work from any subproject if selected projects have no work" have a Yes next to them.

Edit2: Stats: ___ Race users ___ Race teams

Edit3: For those not familiar with BOINC, there are two stages of reporting; both must be done before the end of the race for a WU to count. So do an Update in BOINC manager a few minutes before the race finishes (in 1/2 hour), so all your WUs will count!

Since I haven't made this months project due to machines being done / being redone, I'll join. I should have all the machine happily crunching my then, and I should have the upgrades completed as well.

looks like a boinc app I'll have to download it. Do we have to sign up individually, Do we have a team number or something?

Our welcome thread tells how to join a BOINC project:
To join one or more of these BOINC projects, choose "Attach to project" in BOINC-Manager, and copy the URL for the project you want to join. You can make an account in BOINC-Manager if you haven't got one from before. At the end, remember to visit the team-URL to join TeAm AnandTech.
If you're reading this thread, the URL for the project you want to join is http://www.primegrid.com/

Thanks for helping Primegrid and TeAm Anandtech! 🙂

okey dokey!
SPELL it out again, PLEASE?
when does it start?
'July'! yep!
which day in july?
am i too late?!!!

ps
nope, i'm early! 🙂

Thanks for helping out, Andy! I guess the trick is to make the statement clear enough to understand when drunk. 🙂

I also added a mention of how to get on the right sub-project for this challenge. Technically, nothing downloaded before 21 July 2009 18:00 UTC counts anyway (there's a countdown on the Primegrid page), and AP26 WUs take less than an hour; but some other projects' WUs can take days. So check your settings now so you don't get stuck in a dead-end WU! 😛

okey dokey, you got me there! 😱
i am attached.
just checked.
my god, am i attached or what?!?!?
think i'll have to cull these soon!

Oh...right...nothing downloaded before the race counts, so yes, you should avoid running any old WUs once the race starts.

I'm a little slow on the uptake myself today.

FMC, have you tried installing 64-bit Ubuntu as described in the race thread? I probably should have mentioned this earlier, but 64-bit clients get twice the work done.

2 1/2 hours left!

I should add, if you're trying to fill your cache now, uncheck the "Send work from any subproject if selected projects have no work" as well. I guess their servers are a little overloaded at the moment, but I was getting work from all kinds of projects. Only AP26 work counts, so abort anything else!

I don't appear to be listed on the participating Race users.... Do I have to sign up or just crunch during this time period?

EDIT: I'm on there now ^^

Just crunch AP26 WUs that were downloaded within the race period. Once you submit one, and the stats update, you'll show up.

I heard from Lady Lizardth that she'll join us Later. 🙂
I've not heard from Andy, or any update from FMC. 🙁

Yay, had some time to spend on it. BOINC (64-bit no less--thanks Ken g6 😉 ) is running, and my new Q9550 is happily going "nom nom nom nom nom" on AP26 units.

Yea I am hurting without the 64 bit os on any of my rigs and I guess I am spoiled from wu cuda units from seti to boost my daily throughput but your rig will be a nice addition!

If only SETI would work. I've been trying to attach to it lately, without success. GPUgrid doesn't have work either it seems. So sadly, my video card is idle. 🙁

IMO Seti has been sketchy at best lately. I have maybe 100 completed wu just sitting that are not able to be uploaded to their servers....very frustrating. I do only get more jobs by setting boinc to download 7 days of wu whenever it can.

Still no results from Liz? And nothing from Andy, either. 🙁

Liz and I are both Chocobo Navy. She's kicking out results too. 🙂

EDIT: See here. Her machine is "Silver", my machine is "Neon".
