Who's the web hosting Guru?

I've been with Dathorn.com for the last year & a half but their billing policy isn't flexible enough to fit my needs. Any suggested hosts that can offer similar service (ie. Excellent) and hosting plans, but allow payment by other means than only credit cards?

Thanks 🙂

actually i'd recommend doing a search in these forums for "web host". you'll most likely find a very recent post from rossman detailling good deals.

DeviousTrap is incredibly helpful and knowledgable when it comes to web hosting.

If I was looking for hosting myself I'd use DeviousTrap's hosting. I believe it's called Telnap.

Don't bother his PMs are full 😛.

If you want to contact him your best bet would be on his forums (GottaDeal)

DeviousTrap is correct. I received your PM but cannot reply because I am a lazy bastard!

Are you happy with dathorn? I've heard they have made significant improvements and they remain one of the best deals in web hosting. Have you asked dathorn sales/billing (Andrew) if they accept non-credit card payments?

How do you wish to make payments?

I would also recommend browsing the WHT offers forum, keep in mind 90% of it is crap. The trick is to find the 10% which are decent web hosts offering a good deal.

Happy hunting!

Extremely happy with Dathorn but since this is being paid for off my own credit card and for billing/paperwork reasons, it would just be easier to have it being paid for by the actual organization the site is devoted to. It's a non-profit organization, and we don't have the ability yet to get a credit card.

Any other means of payment would be great, paypal, cashiers check, money orders, but dathorn won't accept any of it. 🙁

I would have thought that they would 🙁, most companies in the hosting industry want to keep a customer and would try to please them, at least I know that I would.

If you are that satisified with them maybe you can set up an agreement with a respected memeber here who would pay them with a CC, and you would them the money each month with paypal. Though that may be a bit more of a hassel then its worth.

Good news is there are several web hosts who will accept Paypal.

Bad news is almost none of them are as cheap as dathorn.com is.

Here are a few suggestions I found by SEARCHING for Paypal in the "Shared and Reseller Hosting Offers" forum
  • SCHostPro.com 1.5GB/15GB for $15.00 using the superior DirectAdmin control panel with Installatron!
    Owned by fellow AT'er GideonX
  • P4Host.com (ignore the date) 1GB/20GB for $13.00 with WHM/cPanel/Fantastico.
    Owned by fellow AT'er inteltechs
  • Telnap Internet Services 1.5GB/30GB for $7.20 using DirectAdmin with Installatron available.
Owned by fellow AT'er DeviousTrap who has several AT'ers as happy clients.
  • ProprietaryHosting.com 500MB/1GB for $100/yr but this isn't a resellers account
  • HiyaCorp.com 4GB/30GB for $6.99
