Don't judge based on the person's morals or cause, just on their skills of being an effective leader. This is just a list of some prominent modern age (except for Washington) leaders.

Please feel free to elaborate on your decision or even to rank the people on this list.

GEORGE W BUSH NUMBA 1!!!!!!!! lol:laugh:

I think out of those Gandhi and Martin Luther King might have been the most effective leaders. most might disagree with me, but i think they had the most effect on their respective people

I looked at the results and they were all for A. Hitler. I pondered that this may well have been done just to F up your poll, but dagnammit he did lead an entire nation into something awful without too much trouble.

He had them hoodwinked something rotten.

Actually I voted for him too, cause he is just that damn good at it.

Hitler was a HORRIBLE leader. The only reason he made it as far as he did was because of the people he surrounded himself with. Then when he stopped listening to them it all started going downhill.

Hitler was a great leader because he could speak with such charisma and incite the general public, but he was e-vil.
If you can get the majority of the people in your nation to slaughter other citizens, while still making them believe they are "righteous", you can lead them into doing about anything.

Although Napolean is also a great leader. So is Alexander the Great. But they aren't on the poll.

As for a "great" leader in the way of making the most positive difference in society as a whole: MLK, Ghandi, Nelson Mandela, FDR, Winston Churchill, Pope John Paul II...

He did turn a country that just got it's ass kicked from WW1 with a depraved and raped economy that had to pay an impossible amounts of cash to other countries into the leading powerhouse in the region..... that takes more than just advisors. If it was just the advisors he wouldn't have achieved the control he had because an advisor would have taken it.

He may have come up with the ideas, but he wasn't always responsible for implementing them properly. Charismatic, yes, but if he was on his own the Nazi party wouldn't have gained power like it did.

Hitler was such an awesome leader he didn't even need gaurds. He just walked around with impunity. He did the economically impossible and defied the world. His complete lunacy and his slaughter of millions are just testament to how powerful he was. Surrounding yourself with good people is not the sign of a bad leader, but rather a good one.

The OP asked who was the BEST leader and LEADERS don't do everything themselves, they inspire and deligate. Nobody is saying that Hitler could have done it without his people, but he was still the greatest leader in history IMHO.

Nobody short of Jesus has ever had a cult of personality like him.... he's just amazing
