Who's seen the infomercial for the Cold Heat soldering iron?

MSNBC reviews the Cold Heat soldering iron.

Another review - again positive.

I've done a fair amount of soldering in my life and it always pains me to have to wait for the soldering iron to warm up to exactly the right temperature before usage. This would be so nice, though I'm not crazy about it being battery-powered (would rather have a AC outlet powered model).

Anyone play with one yet? Opinions please.

Edit: Whoops, looks like a repost. Might as well keep the thread alive to see if anyone got it as a gift or somesuch.

Looks pretty neat, I saw it late one night. I'd use one if it were given to me as a gift but I don't think I'd lay down my own jack to buy one.

Hmm...I'm tempted too, mostly for the cordless aspect. It'd be nice not to have to mess with a cord, especially when I'm doing something on the car. My only concern is how well the solder joints compare with a conventional iron.

What scares me about the Cold Heat is the small amount of sparks you see when it is applied to the wire/whatever you want to solder. How safe is it to use when soldering on sensitive circuits?
😕

I like the house door and window alarms that are only a $1.99 a piece. Brinks and ADT better watch out. Those things would sure give me piece of mind

I have a friend who bought something like it. I'll find out exactly what he got, but it works very well for small soldering jobs. It has different tips for whatever you might need.
