I love all the "their house, their rules" comments, but really people, comon. Can this ideal (or thread) be any more stereotypical?
We get it, all of you are manly men, who keep their children in check with a firm backhand.
So many of you love these threads, because you can use them as some age/status based penis wagging, chest pounding exercise.

How about if it was house rules that all the house garbage would be stored in the fridge with all the other food?
If it was the house rule to eat rat poison daily, or stab yourself in the face daily, it's ok because those are the rules of the house?

Of course it wasn't right to start flipping out on his mother and yell at her, everyone knows that. That's called being a douche bag teenager, and the OP will take shit for that. He may even deserve the stiff backhand to the mouth that so many of you light in the loafers, ego bruised, control freaks would love to dole out. Though it's not like he doesn't have a point and it's not like all of you haven't done the same thing (be a douche bag) in the past (of present for many).

Come to think of it, his mother IS a fucking retard for keeping food with cleaning chemicals. Any of you who don't agree are equally as stupid.

Now this woman's standards for storing food and chemicals may explain the fathers short fuse and their son's mental deficiencies.
She's an evil bitch for poisoning them </Tom Leykis> 😀 Wait, maybe it's all part of her plan to control their vast fortune....

Render them blithering idiots and then milk them for everything, then leave them in the diapers and hit the road with her HoT Stud BoyFriend. :brokenheart: 😀

I say she's not so stupid after all, that's all just part of her act.

Seriously, does she eat from that drawer or is it just the old man and the OP ? 😉

move/clean/rearrange/improve the storage arrangement by yourself.
then they can't b*tch.
best for everyones health. its ridiculous to keep chemical cleaners in a food pantry

Rearrange the drawer while they are out. Then download some reports on why it's harmful and put that in the drawer.

Or GTFO

While you are correct that they shouldn't keep food and chemicals in such close proximity, losing your temper and yelling was wrong. Saying that your dad does it too is not sufficient justification, as two wrongs never make a right. And ultimately, you are living under their roof and need to respect that.

And seriously, get your temper in check. Life's too short.

this.

although, the OP could have calmly and rationally given his opinion. also, i wouldn't eat food stored in there. buy your own food for that matter.

he could have. but he decided to act like a little immature jerk. he is lucky if his parents don't decide some "tough love" is in order and get him looking for his own place.

though from his post he sounds like he is 13 or so.

i feel bad for all you people who lived in a household where you had to put with the my house my rules bit. i have a good relationship with my parents where they actually dialogue with me.

I'll wager you presented a more cogent version of your point of view than OP did, what with the hissy-fits and insulting his mother.

OP, while you are right about foods and chemicals don't mix/in storage together but you don't talk/yell to your mom like that and asked if she was retarded <guess I was raised in different environment>.

Another thing, you live under their roof, their rules, don't like it, move to your own place.

I fuckin lose it and snap at her asking her if she is retarded?

You fail right there.
He was surely on the Debate Team in high school.

If it bugs you so much, buy your own stuff, and leave your parents' nuts alone.

Maybe if you want to change their minds, use a bit more tact.

w/o even reading the OP....Your parents are right. Once you pay the rent and buy the food, then you can put whatever wherever you want...

that line of thinking has its limits.

mixing chemical cleaners with food storage pretty much is it.

After that statement, you forfeited your claim to be right. It's inappropriate and it's no wonder your father said you were in the wrong to be yelling.
