Ill try to keep this short:

I go to one of the kitchen drawers. It's big and you can fit a lot of stuff into it. There are 4-5 bags of various nuts and raisins and dried fruit that we have from Costco. The other 85 % of the closet is filled with chemicals, like, bathroom cleaners, kitchen cleaners, oven cleaners, pledge, windex, various glues, sealants, and more, I don't even know what the others are.

I reach into the drawer to grab a few snacks and as I lean in I get a whiff of a smell that resembles some kind of chemical. I think to myself, this probably isn't healthy keeping food and this shit all in one spot, especially if the smell is everywhere and will def affect the food.

My moms sitting at the kitchen table, so I turn to her, and tell her it smells like pure chemicals and shit in there, and it's probably not a good idea to keep the food there, so I start taking it out to move it somewhere else. My mom goes: "your smelling mushrooms". I go "I said chemicals not mushrooms". She rolls her eyes at me and tells me to stop taking the stuff out. I fuckin lose it and snap at her asking her if she is retarded?

Dad comes down at this point, tells me I'm in the wrong for yelling. (Btw dad is the biggest yeller/controller in the whole household, if it was him in my shoes he would make a bigger scene 10x if he got the reaction I did from my mom).

Oh and I forgot to mention, aunt was at my house a few weeks ago and saw the drawer, told my mom the same thing.

I've got a pretty short fuse, I will be honest, and I am trying to work on my temper, but seriously like wtf?

Cliffs:

kitchen drawer has some food in it with the rest being 85 % chemicals
I point it out to mom and start taking the food out to store it somewhere seperate
mom tells me it's nothing and I should put it back rolling her eyes at me
I start arguing with her sparking my dad to come down
Aunt was in the house a few weeks ago and told my mom the same thing regarding drawer

You are right for objecting to food being mixed with household chemicals, but you're wrong for losing your temper.

I fuckin lose it and snap at her asking her if she is retarded?

You fail right there.

Dude, you tell someone it smells like shit in there, and they respond with a totally bland statement that has nothing to do with what you're talking about. I'm an honest guy and have a good relationship with my mom, if I say it smells like chemicals, it smells like chemicals.

You do realize what a complete and utter "portrait of a dweeb and his idiot family" you're presenting to us here, don't you?

Complaining in detail about your idiot family paints you in the very same idiot light and makes your life look pointless, ridiculous and small.

You're right about the drawer, of course, but it's like winning the Special Olympics, who cares?

You could only care so much if you were actually retarded yourself.

You snapped at your parents while eating their food and roof they provide? Don't like it move out. Their home, their rules. AND you called your mom retarded?

Did Dad kick your ass like he should have? You never talk to your mother like that, especially while eating the food she and father have provided.

Dude, if he was eating their roof, he's got bigger problems than nuts being stored in the household cleaners drawer.

in light of this comment, you are totally 100% wrong.

Yea? I'm sure you know my past history and that of my family. If you did I'm pretty sure you would reverberate that comment.

I don't think that word means what you think it means.

I'm curious as to what you mean.
Edit: Family history-wise, but I guess questioning your word usage as the other posters have can also apply.

You were right. Your mother is retarded. However, you were wrong later when your mother called you retarded and you claimed you were not. The problem is that you are both to retarded to know when you are wrong.

So, you are saying that if he knew your family history his comment would be exactly the same as it is now. Nice use of a word you don't understand.

You sound like a whiny 14 year old kid that just got his feelings hurt by those in authority.

Yes, you don't appreciate it, but it is exactly what you need to understand. Their house, their rules. Debating about the rules is fine, but throwing a temper tantrum because you don't get your way is not. Congrats, you've just lost every chance of convincing your parents that you are right.

Grow up.

BTW, for all that are interested, this is the kind of person the OP is...

Yeah, don't you hate it when people chime in with unsolicited, unwelcome commentary? Must drive you crazy.
