There's a ga-zillion computer power supplies on the market. There is not a ga-zillion manufacturers of power supplys.

PC Power and Cooling, Fortron, Antec, and Enermax I know as fairly reputable manufacturers. That's four, and I'm not sure that they are separate entities. Isn't it possible to get high quality power supplys with names other than those. I'm excluding the $25 to $40 units - you get what you pay for in power supplies.

But, and here's my question. Does any one out there have a real handle on who the major manufacturers or manufacturer of power supplys might be? Or which competitively priced power supply units will be as good as the best known names? Maybe PC Power&Cooling is a stand alone - but it is really expensive by comparison to similar power units.

And - looking at NewEgg buyer reviews, a number of popular brands have been showing up at the buyers door DOA. And a number have died after a short time powering the buyers system. Antec fielded a unit that was in one of their popular cases and gave a lot of folks headaches. What's the real deal on power supply sourcing?
