Who's preordering X-COM?

X-Com is now available for pre-order on steam. They are advertising some DLC rewards if they get enough pre-orders. I'm really a big fan of the original X-Com but still remember getting burned with the travesty that was Civ 5. I don't know if the same guys that did Civ 5 did X-Com though. So who is pre-ordering and who is waiting for release reviews?

I don't preorder much these days. Anything additional content, aside from in MMOs, can be obtained later.

You had me excited but you lied.

X-COM is not available for pre-order, X-COM: Enemy Unknown is.

I don't do pre orders, and I'd rather not see this pre order DLC crap, so all the more reason to stay away.

I will, mainly due to lower price and free bonus content you get for pre-orders.

I see XCOM: Enemy Unknown (With Pre-Order Bonus Elite Soldier Pack Download) includes,

XCOM: Enemy Unknown receive a code to download the Elite Soldier Pack. The Elite Soldier Pack includes:
Classic XCOM Soldier: Players will instantly receive a new recruit in their Barracks inspired by the original XCOM: UFO Defence. The khaki jumpsuit and blonde, flattop hairstyle will return in its full glory, modernized with the rest of the XCOM universe.
Soldier Deco Packs: Players can customize their soldier with several aesthetic upgrades to armour suits including the new Hyperion and Reaper soldier armour kits
Complete colour customization: A variety of colours and tints for all armour sets in the game allow players complete control to customize their squad's look.

Pre-Purchase Rewards. Rewards Unlock As More People Pre-Purchase!

Only one level has been hit so far.

2nd level is more TF2 junk

3rd level is free copy of Civ V (what a bonus!)

Going to wait it out on this one. People were excited about Civ5 and that game turned out to be shit. I generally have a positive outlook on any upcoming game, but I've been screwed over too many times these days so I'm much more cautious when it comes to purchasing AAA games.

I am an avid Xcom fan. However, I will not be pre-ordering this version as I want to read some actual reviews and see some game play before i purchase. While I like that it is turn based and apparently tactical, some of the video I have seen so far makes me fear that they sacrificed tactical for pretty graphics.

Also, the fact that they limit the squads to 4 (6?) really makes me worry that they broke the original concept. I am hopeful that I am wrong about this, but I am taking a wait and see attitude.

I really hope its not true but I'm sensing consolitis on this one, not putting money down until there is some kind of demo or numerous positive reviews (even this I don't trust) or someone I know buys it and recommends it or its like $5 on a steam sale.

the demo videos I have seen make me think consolitis as well. It's lots of flash and high end graphics. The one interview/tactical display had the developers trying to tout the tactical side, but it just felt dumbed down (to me).

I still hold hopes of being wrong.

It seems pretty good from the full gameplay video. I'm concerned the maps are too small, though. That was especially small for a terror mission. But, I guess that's a symptom of being limited to 6 (7) man squads. =/

Honestly, having never played the original, 7 man squads makes sense to me. It's a military organization right? For an elite special forces team, a 7 man squad would make sense.

I pre-ordered on steam as soon as it became available. Have been looking forward to this for a loooooong time. I still play original X-COM UFO Defence at least once per year.

These developers have done a good job of re-doing X:Com. They understand the parts of the original that made it good. Reading extensive coverage of it, and watching bits and pieces of gameplay has been great. It's going to be very nice, whether you get it immediately, or wait for awhile.

A lot of decent games coming out in the next three months.

There's been too many crap games with the xcom label since the original. So I will wait and read the verdict first.

I remain optimistic from what I've seen so far though.

Pre-ordered it for 37.5€ at GMG with a 25% off coupon 🙂 Needs Steam anyway, so it doesn't matter where you buy it.

I played and beat all the original 3 X-Com games, and replayed X-Com extensively. Went and ordered the X-Com package when it came on Steam too. Watching the play through video right now...

OMFG, grappling hook to take sniper to higher ground! Ok, I'm getting this. Damn, I'm just as easy as drunk white girls.

Sorry Firaxis, I'll be a buyer, but not a pre-orderer due to your recent track record of over hyped (not their fault?) bombs.

Game looks amazing though, I don't think I've ever seen so many screen shots out in the open before.
