Ok, it's a weird question - but Bob Dylan is playing in my town as I am writing this post. I had a hard time at work today explaining to people that I don't really care. I mean, I clearly understand their point - but he's no hero of mine.

And then they started: me being a "nerd", "geek" - and they kept asking me if Bill Gates was my hero. OK, I said - give me a day and I'll come up with the name of FIVE alternative "nerd" heroes.

So I need help. Any ideas? Oh - and state the reason.

if i consider bill gates my hero, it would be cause of his successful business practices, not how 'nerdy' he is

as for nerds, ie scientists, consider Einstein, man of the century as voted by Time Mag
 
Henry David Thoreau because Walden still makes sense today. Perhaps even more so.
My deceased father in law because he had the nerve to sleep with my can't be deceased soon enough mother in law.

ok ok more seriously, I've been greatly influenced by the phiilosophy of Descartes, and Nietzche. I've always looked up to the imaginations of H.G. Wells and Verne.
 
Bob Dylan means nothing to me either.

The real hero's are all of our mom's and dad'd that put up with all of our crap. You only know this after your own kid's are on their way to college. BTW I still miss my Dad. Lost him when I was 14 and I only was starting to understand what he was trying to teach me. Mom's and Dad's the real HERO'S !!!!!!!

and I don't mind expaining to people why I think so!
He's a pretty good role model for others who have the energy, the drive and the intelegence.
