Wish I could get them and eBay them, but IMHO the games are too much money.

I can get the good PC games a month or so after release for 1/2 price here at AnandTech. Which beats the crap out of 49.99 and up for console games. Yeah I know all about warez games and all that crap, just try not to go there.

And of course my wife always has our good TV on Lifetime or HGTV, and I get in trouble if I dare get near the remote to change it over to the Dreamcast we have.

actually, i haven't opened the 2 new systems yet.
i can't decide which one to keep.

it is possible to play TG16, SNES, SEGA, GENESIS on your puter using emulator, it can be just as much fun except without 3d engine that today's console rely on so much for entertainment. Cool graphic effect is all I see but the playability or fun factor has diminishes.

first and last consol i bought was nintendo..then i got a computer and that left nintendo in the dust...as well as these new games, the reason i like comp games in the begging was better games, now similar or better games and u play online with humans ...not just AI

Not getting any of them. Why buy some hardware you can't upgrade easily and which will be outdated in 2 weeks time?

i lost interest in consoles when the price skyrocketed, computers are nice but even then they require constant upgrading to play the newer games.

i think i'm losing it, games aren't as appealing to me as my car nowadays :Q

I totally agree that online gaming is extremely fun. With online capabilities and powerful hardware that is can create intense grahpics has made computers a dominate force in the gaming industry.

However, X-box has an ethernet port and some of their games will be capable of being played online just like their PC counterparts.

At the same time, I love PC games like CouterStrike and diablo II but I also love console games since it offers sports and fighting games that often don't make quite the same transition onto the computer. Games like NFL 2k2, Soul Caliber, Dead or ALive keep the consoles players around.

For me personally, I would get a x-box or PS2 eventually when the price goes down. But I'm guessing that will take some time. I'm in no hurry.

I wasn't ever going to get a console as my brother allways bought them (when I still lived at home taking advantage of this was a good thing) and I thought compaired to a PC they were a waste.....

but for some reason with this new generation of consoles I just felt an urge to get one, I am just tired of buying new hardware for my PC every fifteen minutes so that I can compete online (sure it is not true but I always "feel" like I am playing better when I have great hardware)...and I would like the convienence of a console (sitting at my couch an playing, not having to worry about other applications in the background slowing me down...dont want to worry about spilling beer on it while I am playing as it is over near my TV not right under the desk I am at....etc)

I bought an xbox and so far it is really nice...I will see how long that feeling lasts

Single-function (or very few functions) device for large amounts of money, applications (games) that stay expensive for a long time.

OR

Multi-function device (all the functions of the other device and many more), applications that get cheap a little quicker, and which I can upgrade when I feel the need, and the applications can get better faster since they aren't stuck with a single hardware format that doesn't change over time.

Gee, I'm really not seeing the need to buy a console. Being told that there's a single awesome game available doesn't do it for me, and there are far too few good games in my eyes.

I thought thats why consoles are cool because they have a longer life cycle then CPU's. My AMD was slow a month after building it:disgust:

I was at Walmart last night getting a microwave and some other stuff for my new apartment. I told myself that if I saw the NGC I would just out and buy it. So, I asked the electronics clerk if he was getting the NGC. He said and I quote, "HA! You need to get in line at 5am <snort> if you want half a chance at getting one, hahaha <snort>. I have a Xbox and I am getting a Cube <snort> I am taking off just to get it <snort>"

Needless to say that conversation turned me off from buying any console anytime soon

My NES (courtesy of my lovely girlfriend) is entertaining me just fine. I might even consider getting an SNES.

I find I just like older games better - before the damn graphics.... because they almost always seem to have a higher fun factor.
