whos making ULi M1695 boards?

there is a Abit UL8 board in the Abit site, and Gigabyte is coming with a board for the chipset too..

ASUS makes the ASRocks motherboards!!
It is NOT a spin off(seperate) company!!
Both ASUS and ASRocks are made by the same company!!
Sorry to burst your bubble!!

Maybe you're right, maybe the above guy is right.

Why does it have to be ASRock? That name just screams cheap to me. I wish they put it under the main ASUS brand. I might have considered buying it then. I will wait for Gigabyte.
Because it's their value line. Gee, it has the Asus northbridge HS on it, will that change your mind 🙄
The K8S8X is a value board meant for cost conscious consumers; thus it gets sold under the Asrock brand. I'm ecstatic, leave off the Firewire, Gigabit LAN, and other junk and keep the price low - my local distributer quoted $90. The huge bonus is that (1) it's the best performing A64 mobo out there, (2) it's made by Asus under a subdivision so it's quality, and (3) all the functionality (like LAN and SATA) is on the Southbridge so performance is fantastic as the only thing fighting for the PCI bus's limited bandwidth is the sound (whether the integrated or an add in card).

No mention of ASUS. There's a reason for that - if they were part of ASUS they'd surely leverage off the recognized name. They're a spinoff, entirely separate. No amount of exclamation mark overuse will make the opposite any more true.

In fact, ASUS are now introducing low end mainboards again because they're losing market share to ASRock.

In talking with the techies at PCBoost.com and also several companies that I do buisness with that all agree that ASRocks was a brand that was started by ASUS as there lower end motherboard!

As to whether somebody bought the right to make the board or bought the brand name they don`t know!

But what they do know is for all intentioned purposes ASRock and ASUS are made by the same company!!

With that said--I am out of this thread seeing as how this will just keep going with he said she said I right your wrong no facts presented just assumptions and enuendos!!

Have a nice day!!

Umm...I've found AsRock to be considerably lower quality than Asus, though asus has made crappy cheap motherboards in the distant past.

Who cares about M1695 though, I want that Sapphire grouper board!(though it sucks that it only has PCI-E 1x slots and no crossfire, how useless, nothing is going to use PCI-E 1x)
