I don't think I will enjoy this game very much. It looks like rebadged oblivion from the 5 or so videos I just watched. Also, It appears to rip off from BioShock quite a bit with the cartoons and 50/60's type TVs and furnature. Furthermore, it looks really washed out and bland.

Now, I am not saying this game isn't going to be good. I am simply saying, from the videos I have seen, it doesn't look like I will personally enjoy this game. I have had enough of silly type weapons from the FF8+ Days... A gun blade? A machine gun attached to an arm? A huge peice of metal dubbing as a boxing glove? Naw, that isn't really for me. Stick to real and believable weapons is what I would prefer to see.

Hahaha, your post is tragically hilarious.

Not sure what you find tragically hilarious... Perhaps where I was misinformed on the bolded? If so, look past that part and then comment, because it appears as if you are trolling.

I was referring to where you made a grave error by saying that Fallout 3 ripped of Bioshock. I never played a single Fallout game, but the art of the series should be instantly recognizable by any PC gamer.

As far as the second part, realism is over rated. Don't we have enough first person shooters where you used an M16, AK47, MP5, and some sort of desert eagle or glock? But you are entitled to your opinion, so continue to complain about how unrealistic a futuristic science fiction setting based on nuclear fallout can be. Perhaps you should write the developers a letter and tell them that they should be less creative by simply copying the environment and objects around them.

Also, I love your use of the word troll. It's the first time I remember someone laying it out in response to one of my posts, but people on this forum always seem to act like the term is some ace card that makes the quoted speaker feel ever so ashamed.

Finally, aren't the latter two weapons in FFVII? I could be wrong, as it's been quite some time since I touched those games.

Fallout had the cartoons and 50's theme a dozen years before Bioshock even came out.

Thanks for the correction - I only played Fallout: Tactics, which I enjoyed. I didn't see any of that stuff in that game.

Unfortunately Tactics kind of missed out on the real Fallout themes. Too bad, multiplayer Fallout would have been the best thing ever.

I have hopes... but I am one of the only people who hated Oblivion, and everyone is saying it is the same thing.

Everyone is saying what same thing? That it's "Oblivion with guns?" Even the engine is heavily modified from that, and the whole AI system revamped, including pathfinding attributes. Just to mention some superficial differences.

I must be reading different press and seeing different videos than "everyone."

Simply google "fallout 3 oblivion with guns" and view the plentiful results. Both those criticizing and praising the game use this term with different context and meaning.

Fallout 3 doesn't look like it will live up to Fallout 2 at all, I saw a Livewire video interview for it and it looked quite poor, maybe it will be a fun game but it shouldn't be called Fallout 3.

I expect a 80-85 average on Metacritic, there will be some sites like IGN calling it a masterpiece and giving it a 10 while counting the big bucks Bethesda payed them (it wouldn't be the first time) but smaller publications will be a little more sound in their reviews.

I'm still looking forward to it though, it might be a decent game after all.

Who cares? Do you only buy games if their rating lands in a specific range or if your favorite reviewer gives it a thumbs-up? Buy it and form your own opinion.

I just hope that all the screenshots and movies are from console versions and that PC supports dynamic shadows. Cause every image from the game so far lacks shadows on everything except characters.
The Oblivion engine should've been recoded from the ground up for this but it looks more like a TC for Oblivion rather than a whole new game.
Another evil sin from Oblivion seems back too: Bethesda's notorious lack of good animators and the ridiculously stiff talking animations, including the head "target-lock-on".
I hope I'll still dig it, but I'm more looking forward to Euphoria powered GTA IV.

If anyone here hasn't played Fallout 1 and/or 2, please do so before buying Fallout 3.

I was considering doing so if I ever get Fallout 3, but a friend told me that the Fallout series has aged terribly...

How true is this?

I have been looking forward to a post apocalyptic Oblivion or Diablo style RPG that isn't boring for a long time now. I am hoping Fallout 3 delivers with that.

You'd have to be a graphics whore that cares nothing about gameplay to say such a thing, no offense to your friend. Every so often I make a run through both games. (Usually when knocked out by the flu, and I play on my old laptop in bed).

The games are amazingly fun. It should take about 2 minutes to get over the aged graphics.

Not true at all... like DefDC said, once you start playing, the gameplay and story absorbs you in and you don't really care about graphics. If your that concerned about the low resolution you can always grab the high resolution mod to make the game look even better.

Thanks Australia! Seems the edits Bethesda made to make the game "acceptable" to the Australian censors have been integrated into the edition of the game shipping worldwide to avoid any possible conflicts other countries may have had. The only thing I've found so far is the removal of the method of healing which involved taking drugs (intravenously?) If that's all they took out, fine. But I wouldn't be surprised if there's a lot else left on the cutting room floor.

I loved the darkness of the first two, all these 'PC' changes are annoying. I'm slowly losing interest in this game, but we shall see.

Boo Australia! Boo! How about getting into the 21st century and have a proper rating system.
