Who's got wood?

So I was playing the board game Settlers tonight. The gameplay itself is fun, it's like Risk with economy elements. Players get resources like sheep, wood, and clay and then they can build things with it. Players can also trade resources between themselves. This means that during the course of the game, the following was said (by men and women):

"I have wood!"
"I want wood!"
"I have wood for your sheep!"
"I'll give you wood!"

And so on. 😀

Yeah, after awhile. Towards the end of the game it got kinda hard to trade since we were laughing so hard. 🙂

"Let's cut a deal here, we're both reasonable Settler adults. You want some of my wood and I want your wood too"
"Fair 'nuff."

That reminds me of a line from the Simpsons this season. They were doing a spoof of the Trojan Horse story and had just delived the huge wooden horse into the city. The city leader was a Principle Skinner clone-type who was pretty inpressed with the gift and uttered the immortal line "Now whenever anyone gets wood they'll think of Trojans"

every time we play we end up telling a bunch of sheep jokes. and argue over the names of the resources.

Black and White has something similar.

The peasants are always whining - 'We Need Wood!'

and so you cast the miracle and hear 'Miracle Wood!' and everybody ooh's and ahh's.
