Okay, it sounds like I'm leaving the evil reign of Comcrap pretty soon. They charged my sister a $20 collection fee (we split the bill) for someone coming out and picking up a payment and now she's pissed. She called to complain, but I guess a representative will be in contact with her tomorrow. If I do go with Wide Open West, what package should I get? I primarily surf webpages, talk to friends on AIM, and the occasional XBOX Live.

112/112 >>> $29.99
500/300 >>> $34.99
1.5M/300 >>> $39.99

Seems like the second package would work fine. It's not much more for 3x the downstream though.

The first one plain sucks for the price, that's for sure. The third is, obviously, the best and is only $5 more than the second.

If I could get it, I'd totally go with #3. I'd get a lot more use out it than it sounds like you will, though...

I've got that middle package right now. I switched about 2 months ago and so far I do like them better than comcast as far as customer service and rates go, however I have noticed the speed difference between the 500K d/l that I have now compared to the 1.5M d/l I had with comcast. It seems WideOpenWest's network is also more susceptible to slow-down at peak times than comcast was. I would recommend going with their advanced package and get the 1.5M down. They have the package with TV that only costs $50/month which is way better than what comcast was charging me ($80/month).

I have wide open west. I switched from Time Warner because of the monthly bill. The Internet + tv deal for $49 per month was too much to pass up. I had package 3, the 1.5mb connection. I often maxxed it out, it seemed like every connection and browsing the web was significantly faster than RR ... probably because it is isn't saturated. I think it is a great deal, go for the third package.
