Who's Got Hi Def?

I'm watching the game here in HDTV and am rather pleased with the picture, but it got me to wondering how much HDTV has penetrated the market.

Do you have HDTV?

place I work at (Alabama Public Television) films in HD, we have a Sony HD tv in the lobby, would love to take that sucker home with me.

Its not the TV that's too expensive...pretty much everything in the bigscreen category these days is HD-ready. Its the damned service that's too expensive.

It'll be worthwhile when ALL my channels are in 16:9 720p or 1080i andI've got an HD-DVR in my HD tuner...by then we'll have cheaper 65" flatpanels too.

I am not paying extra for my 4 channels of HD on my digital cable......

Oh yeah. I can get all the locals HD for free on cable. I just pay 10 bucks for espn, discovery, hdnet, hdnet-movies, bravo

My HDTV service is free. I get all my local channels via an antenna in my attic. Including the HDTV programming.

Whadda you think?

(nods toward sig)   😉

And, actually, getting cable internet/tv/phone today and that includes the HD Pack over cable! 😀
(the same service as spidey07 above)

$1700 for a 55" 16:9 Mitsubishi? That's pretty damn good! Esp. when you consider people were forking over that much and more just a couple of years ago for analog 4:3 RPTVs!

I'll look at getting hd through directv later

Unless you're watching movies from cable or satellite, you're not getting HD.

Current DVD formats are not HD.

I've had high-def for over 3 years now. And now I FINALLY get to watch some HD football this year. At least 2 games per week (CBS & MNF). I've got dish, so I can't get ESPN-HD though. BTW - I could read some of the playcards Spurrier kept holding over his face last night. 😀

or get a Faroudja 1080p scaler and evey source you give will be HD, but there dammmn expensive.

that is NOT hd. Its a converted DVD. It'll look pretty darn sweet but it doesn't compare to HD shot with HD cameras. Its the age old "you can't add resolution or picture information".

I'd sa it is a sweet price but people don't want to spend over $650 ish for a tv let alone $1700. Us here YES but not normal people.......lol.
