I went ahead and hacked my DTV TiVo like last week or the week before and damn, it's so much nicer to be able to do what I want with the thing.

It's nice when you can control it, have HMO, and other fun stuff...

Was really simple too...

so if you haven't hacked it yet, you should do it or PM me asking me how or something!
 
What exactly did you do? I have one and am seriously considering putting in a bigger harddrive. Those damn free preview weekends of the pay channels fill that sucker up pretty quick.
 
i have dish network DVR and i want to hack that thing but the receiver is so new i can't find any info on it

I have one, and I need to add a new hard drive so I'm thinking of hacking it. Have any guides that I could look at?

What are the benefits of it asside from a larger hard disk? What's hmo?

Speed from faster hard drives, can use it to upload and download videos to the computer.
 
You hacked a Series 2 DirecTivo? Hughes?

Thought it wasn't possible.

But my information is like a year old.

Even if you tell it not to upgrade it will still download the upgrade and stress the tivo servers every single time it calls. Tivo will notice it after about 2 weeks and shut your unit off on the next call.
