Who's got DirecTV TiVo?

I went ahead and hacked my DTV TiVo like last week or the week before and damn, it's so much nicer to be able to do what I want with the thing.

It's nice when you can control it, have HMO, and other fun stuff...

What exactly did you do? I have one and am seriously considering putting in a bigger harddrive. Those damn free preview weekends of the pay channels fill that sucker up pretty quick.

I have one, and I need to add a new hard drive so I'm thinking of hacking it. Have any guides that I could look at?

What are the benefits of it asside from a larger hard disk? What's hmo?

HMO is Home Media Option... Lets you listen to music and view pictures and other fun stuff that is hosted on your PC in your network...

And if you do this you better make sure you unplug the thing from the phone line!

yeah, you should unplug it but when you do it you tell it not to upgrade the software anyways...

Even if you tell it not to upgrade it will still download the upgrade and stress the tivo servers every single time it calls. Tivo will notice it after about 2 weeks and shut your unit off on the next call.
