Who's going to VS .NET launch event?

Already did, it was last Thursday in Portland.

Can't complain, 'cause it was free, but I wasn't terribly impressed. I was only there for XP, so I got what I went for.

Viper GTS

I went along with Viper GTS to the same conference and had lots of fun making fun of their TERRIBLE drummer. 😀
It was fun, though, to get out of the house. I was very happy with the free food, loud music, the three huge VS.NET presentation screens -one of which crashing to show a Macintosh desktop, etc.

I got VS.NET MINTS too! So, yes, it was a good evening.

Didn't want to waste my time on a 1/2 day marketing event. Went to an on-site two-day training course at my main client. Was free (but cost me two days' billing). Was well worth it! I'm pretty excited about this new version!

conjur, you didn't want to waste a 1/2 day offsite completely for free, and instead you spent two days plus the loss of billing and are more happy??

I went to the first of the two day trainings today too in tallahassee. I'm going to come in tomorrow and ask them to answer to the critics.

P.S. As my roommate farbio and I were leaving the launch last thursday night, some guy drove by in a mustang asking people for their cds. I gave him an extra visual studio.net student and said, "See you on anandtech." He laughed and drove away. If you're that guy, I want a cut. 🙂

I am going to the one here at the UW (University of Washington) on the 13th. then the next day I get to go to the MS campus in redmond to do playtesting of what I think is a new Xbox title. Man, 2 nights in a row doing MS stuff... I wonder if I will make it.

I went to the one on March 6th in Tulsa. I had the great opportunity of announcing the .NET user group I started to all at the launch thanks to Microsoft!

<< I'm going to the one in NY on March 14th. Anyone else gonna be there? >>

I would have been there had it been next week during my spring break. 🙁

You mean it's not launched yet?
It's been lying around at work for ages already...

Went to a TechNet/MSDN Briefing on monday, with Monkeyboy (You know who if you've seen the video 😉 ) giving the opening speech and stuff. It looked OK at some points, but the XML crap was slow as hell: they had a 2 line code demo running on the local machine, and it took like 5-10 seconds just to load it for the first time...
Nice, if you don't have anything serious running on it.

Because I went to a two-day training course...actually learned about how to use the product. This launch event will be all marketing...slideshow stuff...thin on detail.

Oh man! Cool! That wasn't offered here, I don't think. 🙁 I didn't see anything about it when signing up (maybe I didn't pay attention) but that would have been nice to go to.

There's a session at Temple University in Philly, but the campus is in a bad neighborhood. Just like the AMD mobo giveaway when they had it at Fairmount Park near the Zoo. Why can't they pick decent places?

so basically when you attend one of these launch parties, you get vs.net or winxp as a complimentary gift for attending?
