I think I finally found a link on their site to the Core i5 2500k and it is out-of-stock already at this location. So yes, I suppose they are busy.

For those not close to MC...;)

Some of the chips are available for $5.99 shipping at the $70 reduced price on MicroCenter.com right now. The 2500k is not available but I was able to add it via combo (which strangely enough didn't add a board, just the chip) and check out for $179.99 + $5.99 shipping. Just waiting for a backorder notice, lol.

Edit: If you want the combo, just hit the <Add both> combo button. It will add the CPU. You can then go back and add the motherboard manually and the discount will show up.

I just ordered the i5 2500k and Asus P8P67 Pro bundle online for under $370.

I am relieved because I wasn't looking forward to driving 120+ miles round trip.

I ordered this morning for instore pickup, 2600K.

At the time, there were 6 available. I put in my CC # and it said wait for the email.

Even an hour later, it still said there were 2 available, then 1, and now its sold out.

When the store opened at 11am I got the "we're sorry, your reservation has been CANCELLED" blah blah blah.

I called and the guy said they changed their mind.....now its "in store only" and you cant reserve. And now that's what my website shows.

I asked him if anyone got filled or if everyone got cancelled and he said he "thought" they all got cancelled.

He said they had "less than 10" in stock at that moment but suggested I come down quickly.

Sorry buddy - I aint driving 40 mins one way so you can steer me to a non-K 2500 once I get there.....plus an overpriced mobo.

I WONDER IF I HAD RESERVED AN OVERPRICED MOBO TOO If I would have been filled and not cancelled.

Anyway, he thinks the sale will be on for at least 2 weeks as he says they rotate sales every 2 weeks. Hopefully its something they keep up indefinitely, as others have said was the case for the i7 950 and other "hot" chips.

Online at Microcenter? Or somewhere else? I don't see that as an option?

Yeah I believe Tigerdirect bought them out and are re-opening under the CompUSA name again.

You can add the 2500k via the combo option (see my post above). It will add the chip at the $70 discount price + $5.99 shipping. You can then go back and add the combo board (several to choose from) to get a board at $30 or so discount too.

From here...

Edit: I believe it's been cut off adding the CPU via the combo option! :(

Patterson is out of 2600K's, Philly has 1 left

Don't believe the website

When I ordered there were 6 available. I guess just not for me! What I should have done in hindsight was order $1200 worth of Sh*t like a mobo, 16 gb of overpriced ram, overpriced PSU, etc etc

They probably would have filled my reservation, then when I got there I could just change my mind at the cashier.......

I know they have a game they're playing with the loss-leader thing, I'm just PO'ed that I couldn't capitalize on it (yet)

Does MC have a policy of In store purchases trumps web orders?

Dallas MC is out of 2600k's and likely out of 2500k's. 2500k had 20 left by the time I got there, and I was camping the store since 10 a.m. 24 web orders already in the morning, at least 5 people took 2500ks when I got there (me being one of them).

It depends on the MC, the Dallas MC honored the in store pickups.

Forgot to mention the Frys in Plano is also out of 2600ks. Anyone looking for 2600ks is gonna have to wait for the next shipment or buy off of NewEgg or Tiger Direct who are now charging an arm and a leg.

Columbus OH has a boatload. I picked mine up after doing the online "in store pick up" thing but checked out their available stock when I got there and they had tons of all the new chips. I decided not to get a mobo there and they had total crap for memory, only 1 2x4GB options.

Fell in love with that board instantly. I know everyone loves ASUS, but I didn't like their current coloring scheme compared to the new charcoal/black accent GB boards.

How is 15 dollars over retail an arm and a leg?

I'm interested to see how well the UD4 overclocks

When they update their prices again you'll see it shoot up, since it is basically sold out everywhere, and the demand is very high. If you haven't bought it now buy it now.

The 2600k sold out instantly at MC and the Frys that I went to in Dallas. Everyone else is saying both k's are selling like hot cakes everywhere. NewEgg is sitting pretty with quite a stock pile of them. You think they aren't going to price gouge? You kidding me?

Realize the difference for most people buying the processor at MC vs Newegg is significant. 30 dollars on the 2500k and 2600k. For people who are trying to squeeze every penny out of their system (which most people do) that 30 dollars is alot.
