Going to get a 3DS soon?

  • Yes, I'll be camping out at BB for one

  • No, I'm going to wait until later

  • I already imported one from Japan

  • Screw the 3DS, give me the NGP

Both but I never played it long enough unplugged to run out the battery. I hear 3.5 hours with wireless on.

Yeah that sounds close to what I've been hearing too. I also haven't played it long enough to find out yet. If it becomes an issue I might look into getting a 3rd party battery replacement/upgrade.

meh, i guess i'll get one this week. dont want to wait 18 months until version 2 comes out with better battery life. any good deals/packages going on?

My 3DS arrived today and is waiting for me at home. I've got Pilotwings, Steel Diver and SSFIV on the way.

I wasn't planning to get a 3DS but after trying one out I couldn't resist. The 3D effect is really cool and the analog stick is great, I couldn't imagine playing pilotwings with the d-pad.

I pre-ordered the 3DS and it is waiting at home for me, however I'm debating as to whether or not I will keep it. After trying it out at the store the 3d effect is hard on the eyes, but the analog stick is lovely.. not sure it justifies the $269 price point with the current games lineup when I could just play them on my old ds lite or pick up a cheap dsi xl.

I'm pretty impressed with the 3D. It works as advertised although at times it can be hard to get the screen lined up perfectly with my eyes so it looks right. The screens look wonderful, though. The higher resolution makes a noticeable difference, even when just viewing the system menus. I haven't even popped in a game yet and I'm already really happy with the system. There's a lot of fun little things to play around with right out of the box.

I've read mixed reviews on the included Face Raiders and AR Games but I think Face Raiders is a great little game to mess around with. It may have been due to poor lighting conditions but the AR Games occasionally had trouble keeping up with the placement of my 3DS. Manipulating my Mii or other Nintendo characters and taking pictures with them was fun though.

Also, I love the idea behind StreetPass but I doubt I'll be able to get much use out of it.

I tried FaceRaiders last night. So fun. Guess I'll try out the AR cards or whatever later. I'm not even sure what they are.

Augmented reality. They work in conjunction with the 3D camera to create little mini games that are rendered ontop of "the real world". The mini games are not that special but the effect is really quite amazing. You really should try it out now! Sadly I'm not confident many games will make use of it but there is a lot of potential there!

I've tried some AR games on the iPhone and, more specifically, the card-based game on the PS3. I've always been impressed with the technology but never the games. I am intrigued by the 3D screen aspect added on top of AR as it exists now, but hopefully somebody can make a worthwhile game to take advantage of it.

Didn't camp out at BB, didn't need to Amazon has had them available for pre-order forever, and had $25 in game credit and a free $10 accessory to go with it, so I went that way instead.

It's just going in the closet til I give it to my son for his birthday in August anyway 🙂.

Anyone have dust on the paintjob with their 3DS? The paint on my Aqua Blue is awful, and there seems to be dust + bubbles under the analog stick on mines. 🙁

:'( No problem with mine, though mine is the black one. The paint on the lid doesn't have dust but it does have a gradient from light to dark black. Perhaps this is what you mean? Or do you mean actual dust? Take it back to the store?

My friends black one is mint also. The paint job on mines has the gradient, but there are definite "dings" on the top, and under (and near) the analog controller there are hard bubbles near it. Reminds me of fresh car paint, and dust got painted over...

I'll deal with it I guess. I should have went with black...looks so much more polished.
