Who's going to buy the 3DS?

We're T-2.5 weeks before the Nintendo 3DS launches. I've been watching some reviews on it. The consensus seems to be that the 3D effect gets old fast but it's still a stellar portable.

Who's going to rush out and get one? I'm still on the fence, leaning towards no. :hmm:

I was going to get one but now I don't know. I might just get one because I have the money. I know I'll want one when more first party games come out but the launch lineup isn't great. If I get it, I'll probably just get SF and pilotwings.

Really want the NGP...PSP2 or whatever they are calling it these days.

No way I'd ever wait in a line for any game or system though.

The 3DS's pricing is a bit much IMO. Would be nice if it came with a pack-in game. At minimum it's going to cost $290.

I have a preorder with Amazon as well which I doubt I'll be cancelling.

I don't really play DS games at all, but I own just about every significant iteration of Nintendo handheld since the original Game Boy.

I thought upon this for about a week. I decided to pass for now. It was the sum of a lot of little things:

--not a fan of the hardware color options
--strongly dislike the gloss finish; prefer matte
--doesn't seem to handle old DS game scaling very well
--battery life seems poor
--D-pad is aligned poorly
--no intriguing games for me at launch, expect maybe Pilotwings
--simply expensive

Gonna look into it again when they announce gen 2 of these things, and see what kind of changes to the hardware it brings.

I bought a DS but I never really played it much, same story for the Wii. Probably going to skip the 3DS.

Yeah I doubt I will. When I'm at home and want to game in my lap I just use my laptop. I had a Gameboy Advance and it was primarily played right before bed or on the toilet.

I'm in for probably, but I want to see a store demo model first. Not that I'm terribly worried if it turns out that there are initial supply shortages.

Got an import. Very impressed with it; 3D doesn't really 'get old,' more of you get used to it and take it for granted. It's been a while since I played a Warriors title, and the 3ds version has been very fun; quick switching between playable characters give it a quasi-RTS feel alongside endless hectic action, and since AFAIK this is a first in the series I feel a lot of the 'journalists' calling it off as just another in the series never bothered to play past the first level.

I bet reactions online will initially be like hard drive reviews at an online store, especially with the huge number of naysayers wanting to take shots at it.

That's was my problem with the DS. Admittedly I just bought it for the Okami sequel. I've always been about the portables though. iOS is the one to beat. Now they have something it doesn't. I'm waiting to see the store demo.

Sony needs to start making some concrete promises about the NGP's pricing and release date.

The DS has always had something iOS can't match... actual buttons. It's really hard to play some games without some tactile feedback of where your thumbs are.
