With it's upcoming launch and the G71 to follow soon after, I'm curious to see where people view their next upgrade to be. Personally I plan to buy one because I like trying out new hardware. Please don't turn this into a flamefest.

If it's not DX10 compliant then it's no good! The jump from gen to gen isn't that great anyways. Every other gen sounds good to me =)

Btw, what's the forecast on an LCD that is/has:
HD Compliant
Vista Compliant
Perfect Black Pitch
True HDR Support
True 1080p
No Ghosting

yes!.... no.... maybe?

im waiting for the benchies. im going to upgrade soon (like within weeks) and i always buy the fastest card possible(available too), which seems to be the 1900xt if ATI keeps their hard launch promise. but if its too much of a let down, ill bite the bullit and wait a few more months for the G71. but personally, im hoping that a day or 2 after the 1900xt is launched, Nvidia announces that the G71 will launch in early febuary like the first rumors :p

I voted for waiting until the G71 and compare. ATI could turn that vote to a "yes" if it ties/beats the GTX512 and I can buy one for under $500 WITHOUT a mail in rebate! :)

Voted yes by accident.

I buy based on price alone. I can't justify spending over $200 for a card :(

Well, my wallet can't justify it, not my beliefs.

I'm in the same boat. I like games, but not enough to shell out $600 so they look nice. And at my age, AA is now built into my eyes, everything looks kinda smooth and fuzzy.

I would like to, but there's no way I could afford it right now. Plus my 6800GT is doing pretty well for its age, so I think I can hold onto it for another several months, maybe even most of this year. I do plan on upgrading for UT2007 and/or that new DX10 game from Crytek though, so that will probably be this fall/winter.

Edit: I voted "waiting for next gen".

Waiting to decide until I see how it compares to G71. If G71 doesn't have HQAF and HDR+AA support, I'm probably getting an X1900 the coming holidays.

waiting to see if I want to do the stepup program to the G71 (if it comes in time). Otherwise my 7800GT will work for now, though since ATI has done pretty well this round my next purchase might be from the red team.
