Dude...you gotta pay $ to see this? 😵
-Ed
Point being?
Meaning...I didn't know it had such a draw that they could charge for it at those prices.
-Ed
This is one of the pricier bboy events, but also one of the biggest... it takes a LOT of money to throw a jam. You have to rent the space, buy insurance, pay the judges, pay the winners, promote, etc.
On a personal note, this event is the only income Asia has. What she makes from BBoy Summit is what she and her baby Yas live on for the rest of the year... she puts her heart, soul, blood, sweat and tears into this event, and she's the main coordinator. I think those prices are reasonable... especially for the theater show. That one costs a lot in terms of rental fees, lighting fees, worker fees, etc... and it's going to be a very high-quality show. I figure you'd pay $50-300+ for tickets to a ballet, opera, show, etc... this theater show is no different, to be a showcase of performance artists.
You should come, Ed. 🙂
mmm...just exactly how much does she make from this event to be able to support herself and her kid for a whole year?
-Ed
Why does it matter to you?
Maybe cuz if she really needed money...i'd rather send her $5 than spend $20 to see the thing?
-Ed
Asia's not the type to accept/want/request charity, but thanks...
It's not really charity...IMO not seeing the show has more value than seeing the show (just my personal preference, not anyone else's...jsut like some people wouldn't pay to see a baseball game but I would). I figure given the overhead costs of putting on the event...they should make about 25%. That would directly go to her...no? *shrug* in any case it was an offer.
-Ed
Well, she also has to pay the winners/workers/etc., but I suppose that's considered part of the overhead. I'd estimate she directly gets 20% or so, possibly a little less. But thanks Ed, I know your intentions were kind.
My nerdy lovable little brother Sandy (bboy) and Kat (not a bgirl).
Ohmygoodness, NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sandy is Chinese!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Cantonese)
Why would you think he's black???????????? 😕
His Hair looks like a fro :Q
Cheers,
Aquaman <<<<<<<<<<< almost a lifer :Q
LOL... he's 100% Chinese. And the ONLY Asian guy I know with a fro... 😀
Oh, and none of you were there yesterday. :| I worked registration at the window all night, too...
