Who's going sleep deprived and watching the eclipse tonight?

Not that gay vampire movie, the orange moon thingy?

Gonna try to set the alarm for about 2am and take some pics. My body may disagree with my good intentions though.

My daughter wants to see it. If she gets up, and manages to get me up, I guess I'll see it.

No opportunity to see it here in NorCal. Heavy cloud cover and rain. :(

I'll be taking a break at work at 2AM anyway, but I don't think I'll stay out that long. Too chilly.

I think I'd see here at 1230.

It's just beginning then, EST. It won't be full until around 2:30 - 3:00am or so. I'm srsly thinking of catching it.

I'm also going to a Solstice celebration tomorrow evening. The actual Solstice occurs around 6:30pm tomorrow. They'll be a fatted calf, virgins, that sort of thing.

Got my cameras set up, the alarm set, ready to go. Unless it clouds over. Right now there is a light overcast which will be good for catching the beginning and end but not so good for totality.

I'm suffering from insomnia as a side effect of one of my new meds, so yeah, I'll be watching and enjoying the eclipse. All of it.

Usually I'm up til 3 or 4am anyway, except tonight because I have a train to catch in the morning. I might check it out at 230 but no later.

Good god. There is a circle of clouds around the moon, but the moon itself is perfectly visible. It's amazing.

What time does it start if I'm living in the NY area? Does stuff start happening at 12:30?

It rains only several days a year here, and this is one of them. :(

I'll go outside anyways though and hope for the best.

Argh, I really want to take pictures, but I have absolutly nothing that can manage to take a picture without the moon looking like a lightbulb.

Haven't been to a virgin sacrifice in so long, I think Beelzebub has forsaken me. :(

^ Spot Metering

that will turn the lightbulb off :)

That was at 300mm? Jeez. I was considering taking out my dSLR, but my max focal length lens is my Canon 200mm f/2.8L. Probably not worth trying to get shots. Plus, it's kind of cold outside, so I'd have to wait for all my equipment to get acclimated so it doesn't fog up (and more time waiting in the cold).

Too lazy to look outside right now, but it's pouring rain. I'll check in 30 minutes if I stop hearing the rain.

Pretty darn cool, 30-40% covered at this point. It's cold as a witches tit out, though. As always, nature is the greatest show going!

We are in the middle of one of the biggest rainstorms I've seen here in a long time...wish I could watch it.
