Qualcom stated that they expect 5 million smartwatches to be sold this year. So, who are you people that plan to buy one and why?

Just stopped wearing one recently as I always have a phone on me so it seems redundant.

Even if they weren't prohibited at my job (no personal electronic devices in the work area), I have stunningly little interest in them. Fitness is really the only thing I could see using one for, and I'd just go with a garmin if I wanted that.

Nope. The technology is not good enough yet. I want:

1. A round screen
2. Gesture control (optional, but would make sense on a tiny touchscreen)
3. Fitness features (activity & health tracking)
4. Good Bluetooth speakerphone
5. Solid interface for navigation, reading, etc. (re: Spritz speed-reading)

I voted maybe. I will get a smartwatch within the next three years, I don't know about this year.

-All smartwatches that aren't based on Google's OS are a no

-I think the Moto watch will be too much, and I am suspect of the round screen's usefulness

So that basically leaves the LG watch. I expect at first they will want way more than I would be willing to pay for it, but LG products seem to jump off a price cliff a few months after release. If the LG watch hits sub $200 by Christmas then yes I will buy a smartwatch this year.

Very little details on the Moto 360, but it could meet these requirements. It's round at least. :p

I'd like to. But price and battery life will be the deciding factor if I buy a smart watch this year.

Regarding price. I'd probably go as high at $200 if it was a really stellar smart watch. But probably no more than $150 if it was merely "really good".

I'd like to get through half a week minimum with a smartwatch before charging. I might be a bit more forgiving of battery life if it has wireless charging, but then I'll need to buy another Qi charger and that'll factor into the cost figure above and if it's worth it or not.

I'm guessing we probably won't have always on displays available this year with good battery life. So if it's something I need to turn on to see the time, it better be really easy to turn on. Like a tap on the display or something. I don't want to fiddle finding some small button on the side.

Apart from being convenient for sports, i am not sure what i would use it for? I have never worn a watch after i got my first mobile phone.

If the finished Moto 360 is just 75% of what the renders/press info would lead us to believe, then I am in the YES camp.

A few uses/features I can imagine...

1. micro sd slot? hey, we can dream, right? running with a phone sucks. Running with a watch + bluetooth headphones is great.

2. inductive charging. The biggest problem IMO is keeping the thing charged.

3. bio apps. Perhaps one day a diabetic can have a blood sugar monitor app

I'm a late adopter. I won't bother until it has really matured. IMO, it also still needs a "killer app" to convince me that it's something I really want.

I see potential to be a great add-on, if they can get the implementation correct. It would handy to have a convenient interface and leave my phone in my pocket. See who's calling without having to pull the phone out. Decline a call with a quick glance and tap. Email or SMS previews. Basically a convenient notification device. But it does have to be relatively cheap, I'm not paying $300 for a notification screen.

The only interesting one is the Google one with the round screen and Google Now updates. However, I see that as redundant as I always have my phone. The Moto 360 also seems interesting, but probably not.

I voted maybe but leaning heavily towards no. It'll depend on what, if anything, Apple does. Main things I am interested are fitness apps. I currently use an app on my phone but if I could run something like digifit on my phone with my heart rate monitor connected to it I'd be interested. But it needs to look like a watch. The moto watch showed in the last couple of days looks really nice but maybe a bit large.

I will be getting a Moto 360, barring any unforeseen showstoppers (extremely high price tag, short battery life, etc.).

What is an extreme price tag to you? $400? $500?

I would say over $300 is extreme. $300 is still high, but not extreme enough to keep me from buying one. I love new tech too much to resist.

I expect it to sell for $250 when it launches. Although since they have not yet been sold over to Lenovo who knows, they might pull a Google and sell it for less.

Maybe if it's super amazing for fitness since I am definitely a fitness nut, but I am not planning on it. Definitely not as a 'fashion statement'.

Only if they can make a "smart watch" stay smart in the future with "timeless" good looks.

So most likely, NO! Not going to replace my Sub, PO or Night Hawk with a smart watch anytime soon, or ever..
