Who's bought a TouchPad so far?

What is this Onsale? I don't see it on their site.

Onsale is supposed to be subsidiary of MacMall but the item only shows up as in stock if you go through the Slickdeals thread link.

Probably web error and the orders will be canceled but it's worth a shot. MacMall was one of the few remaining retailers still holding on to the old price along with Newegg. But MacMall new price went live short time ago and the crazy masses have crashed that site. 😀 This is insane.

I ordered one (16GB) through them on Amazon. We'll find out what happens!

EDIT:

Of course, now I'm wondering if I should have "splurged" on the 32GB model instead. There doesn't appear to be a SDHC card slot on the TouchPad. :hmm: Oh well.

My order from OnSale about 30 minutes ago already changed to Shipping Soon status and can't be canceled. So it's likely legit.

I ordered 2 16GB ones from HP @ $185 total Friday night. Just got the confirmation this morning....now awaiting a shipping update. I'm looking forward to playing around with it. I just hope the large number of sales will help HP reconsider and look at the hundreds of thousands they're selling look at an opportunity to enter the market.

LOL, this is still a craptablet, I mean really, it is, no apps, etc, and they're losing a metric ton of cash dumping them on the market like this.

Read some reviews, there's a ton of reasons why the're dumping this device.

That being said, it's a great buy if you want something to tinker with...

I hope everyone enjoys what they bought 🙂

No, this is fantastic tablet considering the price. Last thing I would call it is craptablet even at full price. Not everyone cares about apps. About 90% of my tablet use consists of browsing websites and email. This thing has full Flash, built in video SkyPE, and good email client. I can put bunch of movies and music for my daughter for long roadtrips. The hardware specs are comparable to iPad2 and Transformer. This thing also has the best Wolfson sound chip out of all tablets so music actually sounds good. It's absolute steal at this price even with zero future support. If they get Android working, even better. But for my use this is better than any iPad.

Everyone should read Anand's review on this site. It gives you good idea what to expect.

5x16 + 5x32 ordered from OnSale... We'll see if they actually show up.

I'll keep a 32 for myself, & I've already started polling friends/family for interest. I don't think I'll have any issues getting rid of them, seems plenty of people want tablets when they're $100.

The sick thing is that all 10 of these is only 1.5x what I paid for my Xoom.

remember when everyone said how tablets are stupid, no use for them, a fad...etc.
yeah, those were the days.

lol selling a device that costs $300 in components alone for $100 is not really a viable product nor business model.

that considers nothing of engineering/support/software development costs.

if anything, this situation says these devices almost have a negative value from a product/platform perspective.

While the hardware specs are great the software seems to lack the polish it needs. The browser has a few issues and the OS seems a bit sluggish in areas, even though the hardware should be more than enough.

I am happy with it, but being mostly a "toy" to me there is no way I would have paid full price. Hopefully WebOS isn't as dead as we all think or an Android build is coming sooner than later.

Even at $100 I won't buy it. A good part of it is because I just bought an Iconia... but the things I use the Iconia for so far isn't done at all or well from what I read on the TouchPad. Netflix and Hulu will work on most Android pads, and that's what I use it for. The HP can browse and message, but IMO that's not enough for $100.
