Who's a true gamer?

And I mean, someone who doesn't form an allegiance to a specific platform. I recently built a $850 gaming rig with an HD 7850 and i5-3450. Basically, the graphical presentation I was able to receive at 1080p was jaw dropping, but I still find myself coming back to my Xbox 360 only because of Gears of War 3. Yes, PC offers better graphics and content out of the same game then on console, but there's no PC game that touches Gears of War's game play in my opinion. It's all about fun, and even if my rig had a quad SLI setup of 2 GTX 690's and a i7-3770K, at the end of the day, the Xbox 360 will provide more of it. Hey, I'm glad I can play on both platforms though! All hail the... Gaming race!

I have a gaming PC, Xbox 360 (2 in fact), PS3, Wii, PSP, two Amigas hooked up, a Commodore 128 hooked up, and a Vic 20 and an Atari 2600 that I need to get around to hooking up. I win. 😉

I own a PS3 and have played on it maybe 5 hours in the year+ I've owned it. Do I count?

I do still enjoy some SC2 here and there...

If Xbox 360 never had Gears of War or Halo, I'd be a full time PC gamer. I have a PS3 and Wii in my household, but just not in my room.

I've got a Wii, 2 Xbox 360s, PS3, what used to be a gaming PC 3 years ago, and my son has a 3DS. I used to be a gamer, but not so much anymore. I'll occasionaly play some here and there with my son. My son really only plays them when the weather is shitty, the rest of the time he's outside playing, riding his bike or skateboard.

Nerd. 😀

I only game on my PC. Our Wii is simply used for netflix stream ( which I use less for now since we got a roku player)

i have basically every modern system as well as a gaming PC. I dont care what systems games are on, i purchase games i want to play and dont care if its Xbox or PS3 or PC or Wii. corss platform games i purchase on whatever system the people i know IRL get it on, so in the case of BF3 i got it on the PS3 because honestly no one else i know has a 360 or a PC capable of playing a game with graphics beyond freecel

I used to be but not any more. Over the years I've had a NES, SNES, N64 (briefly), Playstation 1, 2 Slim, 360, Wii, multiple DOS and Windows gaming systems, Gameboy, Color, Advance, and now Android devices.

But mostly I just play casual games on Android and Older Windows games on my game computer. Actually it collects dust a lot of the time.

Sort of gave up video games in order to accomplish some goals 🙁 Was a console guy prior to that, XBOX 360. My Live! subscription just ran out last night 🙁

Truthfully, I used to keep up with the best and baddest gear, but PC rigs have reached what I call the "Blu-ray" threshold...last generation graphics cards and processors are at the point where new advances are pretty much trivial, and IMO not worth the money.

When I upgraded my Voodoo I to a Voodoo II card, I was amazed by the speed increase. When I upgraded my VooDoo II to a Geforce card, I was amazed by the colors. When I upgraded my Geforce card to an ATI Radeon series and was amazed by the smoothness.

That's the point where things started to get very "eh." I've had a Geforce 9800gtx for 4 years now, and I still don't see a need to upgrade. I'm playing on a 37" tv at 1920x1080 with a high end core duo processor and everything runs very smoothly. There's not really a need to do constant upgrades anymore for tiny improvements.

That being said, I still love gaming, and I like the fact I don't have to spend $1000/yr to play the latest games.

I game on the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. My preference for FPS games is always PC. Something about the precision of mouse and keyboard control does it for me. Not to mention the graphics are much better.

The only proof I need that shows me the PC is better... I buy games and play them for years and years (Team Fortress 2, Eve Online, Company of Heroes, soon to be Planetside 2). You just don't get that with consoles.

Why do you have to like/have multiple game systems to be a "true gamer?"

Because thats all there is to being a gamer these days. 95% people identify themselves has gamers play Halo, COD, GeOW, or Madden 95+ % of the time. There is a very very VERY low bar set these days. Simply liking more than one system puts you above that level and is a point of pride in these dark times.

Its sad.

I can remember when "gaming" mean hex based Napoleon shit.

Back in MY day, if you wanted to play a game, your REALLY had to want it. Boot disks, EMM memory commands, swapping floppies/CD's, setting IRQs for your sound card, setting up IPX networks...you kids an' yer XBoxes where all you have to do is wipe off a disc once in a while to get something to work.

Been playing games since I was five. Most of my gaming is on PC lately but I have a 360 and access to a PS3. Finished playing the Ys games lately, working through Witcher 2 and RAGE while playing EVE and maybe Civ V every now and then. Been trying the Dust 514 beta on PS3 lately. Every now and then I'll go retro and play something on NES, SNES, N64, PS1, or PS2. Also been accumulating some Gamecube stuff when I have the money.

my video card cost almost more then your entire PC 8)
Hmmm, priorities. My earphones cost more than my PC. Look up the "Westone ES5". For the 1080p resolution that I play on, having a higher end GPU then my HD 7850 would be a waste since it runs all my games maxed out at above playable frame rates.

I'm a PC gamer almost exclusively. Love games like Diablo III. That's pretty much all I'm playing when I'm not out riding my literbike of course.
