Yeah, that's so cool!

What's next, racing a Yugo against the other cars in "The Fast and the Furious"?

Wow. Maybe we'd all start getting games with so many textures that even the GeForce 3 would be brought down to it's knees.

Or not. I doubt the board would make any significant market penetration.

Hey man, don't you go knocking the S3 Virge chip! It was the world's first 3D decelerator! Truthfully, though, the only two games the were specially patched to be 3D using the Virge chipset are two of my all-time favorite games, Terminal Velocity and Descent.

With cheap ram like that it kind of defeats the purpose or agp.

Wasn?t agp invented because ram on video cards were so expensive & it could use the cheaper system ram when needed.

I bet those AGP engineers never saw that one coming.;)

Just gimme a pci Geforce3 with 512meg of ram. lol

Those (engineers) were Intel. You're right, though. I knew someone (who) was part of the team that designed the (now-defunct) i740-based video card chipset. At the time, he said, "8 MB is enough for on-board video. System RAM via AGP will handle the rest." This was in 1998.

Go figure. At the time, he was probably right.

Not to change the tone of the thread or anything, but this board with a QuadroMX hack would make one he!l of a bargain for viz/CAD students:)

Wasn't there an AT article recently that bsicly said that the GF2MX couldn't get any real use out of anything more than 32MB?
