Im type II as many know and lately for the last few months my blood sugar has been getting really low every day and night causing me to become Hypoglycemic with my sugar levels dipping into the low to mid 50's and causing me to feel really funky. If not caught in time and dips any further can go into a coma and die.

So the doc cut my meds back and still didnt help, still every day, even though I was eating, the number were dipping down, it got to a point I started to have to eat sugar candies every night before going to bed so I wouldnt fall into a coma in my sleep. Waking up to test my levels and be in the 70'-80's Which is considered low upon waking up.

So 4 days ago I said screw this and quit taking me meds, and have been keeping a close eye on my levels, testing more often then I should, but not once have I gone over 160 2 hours after eating a meal and that is considered Normal.

The last few days I have tested I have come in the middle numbers of what is considered normal upon waking up, 2 hours after eating, and before going to bed. Looks as though changing my eating habit has allowed me to kick the pills and reversed my condition. I plan on checking this for a full 2 weeks and taking my finding to my doctor and getting his ok to throw the pills away.

To many this may not be a big deal, for me this is huge, and I am beyond happy and couldnt wait to share my result. Wanted to be sure the pills were out of my system before sharing my celebration.

And this is a huge deal. I long for the day of not having to take 3 injections a day :)

If I could not get my numbers down that was the next step for me. I told my body fvck that, I cant stick myself and inject stuff into me. I have a hard time just pricking my damn fingers to draw the blood to test.

I totally knocked out almost all sugar, all bread, and stopped eating. Because of my back condition and getting worse I was kinda forced into having to stop eating for it is getting harder for me to make anything to eat. And I am kinda happy the last few days to be of the pills for the forced me to go though hell pain wise to make something to eat so I wouldnt go into a coma.

So I am going to be happy for three reasons.
No more low blood sugar
No more forced to eat so I will lose more weight
No more pills now for type II, hopefully if my weight goes down enough my BP will follow.

So Im stoked and got some good to be looking forward to, doing the numa numa dance in my chair :)

why not administer automatically via your stomach? a co-worker's husband does it that way and loves not having to give himself shots.

oh and congrats funboy

Thanks, and your talking that new pump thats out right? If so I saw a ad on that. They put a tube directly into your stomach and the machine pumps the insulin right in?

yes, that's it. he wears on little monitor thing on his belt. looks like any other piece of electronic equipment like an iPod or cellphone - type thing that you'd wear there.

Good luck! My husband has type II and manages it with no medication and his mother has been managing hers just by her diet for over 30 years. My next door neighbor has it and her doctor just took her off medication and is letting her work by diet alone. It certainly can be done and I hope you can do it.

How can they do that? Insulin is a protein it would just get broken down...

I used a pump for about 8 months back in 1999 but it kept slipping out whenever I would work out (sweat doesn't mix well with tape :/ )

I'm thinking of looking at the pumps again in the near future.

Well today being mid 5th day without taking my meds I just tested after eating 2 hours ago and im at 120. I am feeling very confident my pill taking days for Diabetes is over. I actually feel good as well being off the pills, ontop of that im on some other pills for my migraines that is supposed to increase my blood sugar so I really must be doing something right. Befor going on the pills I was at over 300 sugar level, dropped to 250-280 on the pills, and then I changed my diet and bam, dropped way way down. Just kicking out the soda and samichez made a huge diff. It used to be all I would eat and drink because it was easy to slap one together. Now, like today, I had celery, cherry tomatoes, and onions and a few little smokies for lunch, and 2 small chocolate donuts for breakfast.

My next report will be if it should change or in two weeks if the doc tells me to pitch the pills down the toilet.
