been running every day, trying to regain my 5:30 pace. Today I came closer to my personal best by running a 6:10. I  hills, and felt a new pain in my legs that I forgot long ago. It's good to be back on the streets running.

Yea, I like running outside a lot better then on the treadmill. I tend to push myself more. I'm trying to get back in shape as well.

That's a pretty nice pace. Keep it up!

When I used to run cross country I never broke 6:00, but I'm simply not a good runner. The most I've ever run was 10 miles at a time, but I know a guy that runs 100 mile races through hills, etc. in 24 hours. Craziness.

10 miles is nothing to scoff at Descartes. I push 7 or 8 miles and I'm either at my running high, or i'm dying. If I'm at my high, I can go forever.

approximately 88 degress right now.

*I also pushed myself to run it as quick as possible. Not blinding speed by any means but I'm getting there.

Wow! Not to break your bubble, but I run track, and there are guys who run the mile in 4:16.

I've never timed myself on a FLAT track, nonetheless, 4:16 is phenomenal!!! What school do you go to? I run the streets of my neighborhood and love to climb and even more go down hills. The 5:30 pace I had was for the current route I took today, and entails 1 fairly large hill and 2 smallers ones (never measured the grades of the hills).

*For comparison purposes, the world record for 1 mile is 3:43:13 held by Hicham El Guerrouj of Morocco, and was set on July 7, 1999. Those 4:16 times are QUICK!

4:16 for a high schooler is national-caliber. Many fast college athletes run around there. Most fast high schoolers are in the 4:30 to 4:45 range. You're 6:10 is definitely respectable though! There aren't many people that can run a mile in under 8 minutes, let alone close to 6.

No, sir, I am not one of the quick mofos. I'd like to think that on certain days when I feel good and the conditions are right and the gods are smiling on me, I can be almost not too bad, but that's about it. And no, I don't run every day anymore; my body just can't take it. I take one or two days off every month and that seems to be better for me.

Used to jog 3 miles 3 times a week, walk 5 miles on off days. I started sprinting instead now, but I've been set back by weeks of incapacitating soreness throughout my legs. Tomorrow I start up again.

I don't like running at all..guess I'm in the minority here. :p

I can pull 1.5 miles (with some hills) in about 13 minutes...used to be able to do one mile in 6:35, but that was four years ago.

I've been trying to take my lazy butt out running as well. I was never a fast runner, in college I would do something like a 8 minute mile for 3 miles - not mind blowing, but I was content with it. However after not running for many years, now I can barely make a 10 minute mile for 2 miles!

Hehe, I live in Phx. You can be soaking after a single lap of a 1/4 mi track. If you're not, you aren't hydrating properly.

Great job. I was never a great runner...even after all those years active duty army when I was running 4+ miles a day just in PT, I never broke the 12 minute mark for the 2 mile, and averaged around 12:15 to 12:30. Althought I am 6'3 and 225lbs, so my weight always worked against me.

Go take a shower and clean off the keyboard when you are done.
Or is this your resting point at a cybercafe?
