IBM ThinkPad T41 2373-9KU

great price... and the email ebay sent me said the seller is willing to accept escrow! so i've initiated the escrow thing... that'll tack on 90 bucks, but then we can use american express and get an additional year of warranty :D

summary:

Brand new, factory sealed
P4M 1.7 GHz
512 mb DDR SDRAM
60 GB @ 7200 rpm
WiFi + Bluetooth!
1400x1050 SXGA resolution, 14.1 inch screen

all for around 2100 after escrow and shipping...

gonna get another 512 mb from crucial so i have 1gb of memory and also insurance from safeware... so that'll be 130 for the ram, 170 for the insurance... so another 400 there... add on a mouse and bag, etc, it'll all probably be around 2600 :Q

LOL when I think of winning something it doesn't cost me near the retail price to win. In fact I think of it costing me nada.

can you show me where i can buy this laptop for $2100 retail? i actually have an opportunity to cancel this bid because the seller is unwilling to use escrow (despite ebay saying otherwise)... so please, if you know of a place where i can get it for around this price, do let me know.

I'm not trying to thread crap at all but why are ibm laptops more $$ for the same specs than say compaq or hp or toshiba?

I'll admit I don't know too much about laptops. I'm just curious.

That's more than I paid for both my Volvo and my Bus combined! :Q

(I paid $265 for this P3 700 lappy I'm using to post right now...)

besides the decked out powerbooks. nobody makes a portable better than Apple IMO, too bad it's a mac and way less options there :(

For that price, I'd lean towards the 15" PowerBook.

Of course, I'd rather wait for the PowerBook G5. :)

they are pretty nice, but i like the little nipple pointer of the thinkpad... plus the fact that it's a mac sort of takes it out of the running ;)

DAMMIT i paid via paypal but i forgot i had 25 bucks in my account already so that only part of the purchase was made with my american express... which means i'm not eligible for the extended warranty :( oh well... probably won't need that 4th year anyways... or do you think they'll still cover it since 40 bucks of the final payment was for shipping & insurance? in other words, the *product* itself could have been purchased with the cc, and the 25 bucks applied towards the shipping and stuff...

Nice buy :D

I am more partial to the PB's and the Vaio's myself.
