Board of Education approved my tenure last night 🙂
Happy happy happy that I don't have to worry about such things any more.... fretting that any little mistake would cost me my job if it made just one person unhappy (depending on who that one person is).
Flame away if you want about how tenure makes it hard to get rid of crappy teachers.... But if you do so, I tend to agree with you anyway. Nonetheless, if you were a teacher, even one of the best teachers in the world, you'd know how stressful it can be waiting for tenure appointment....
You wouldn't believe the horror stories... I know of one teacher who has a 100% passing rate on the NY State math exams...(very very few math teachers succeed at that level) obviously not a bad teacher, I think it was a personality conflict with his principal, but he's not getting tenure, and that makes it very difficult for him to continue his career.
