This is pissing me off! All of a sudden ATI is taking over the driver leadership from nVidia. I'm still waiting for WHQL drivers drom nVidia's site. All it has are 2 1/2 month old beta 41.09's!:|

Not woooo hoooooooooo for me with these drivers just tried them and like every other driver I have tried except the 2.5 I get hang ups trying to shutdown. I also got a lower score in 3DMark with these drivers. :(

Hmmm...dunno about the slow shut down times, is that when you are dropping out of a 3D game/app?
Or just shuting down windows? Also, fixing minor issue's with 3D games/apps is more important than 3DMark2001, IMHO, besides, 3DMark2003 will be out very soon, and 3DMark2001 will be a thing of the past.

Its just shutting down from Windows the ONLY one that doesnt do it are the 2.5 cats. It gets to the saving settings window and just hangs. One time I did wait a bit then hit esc and it shutdown but I wont settle for that.

The drivers worked great with all of my games (UT2k3, BF1942, AOM, and NFS:pU) and the BHD demo. I've really noticed a big difference in speed with the last driver set, and this release just seems a little better. I've been really pleased with ATI so far.

for comparison:
UT2K3 gets about 35 fps on average with full game detail settings at 1280X960 32 bit color, 4X AA, 16X AF and full texture and mipmap settings.

oh yeah, on deathmatch (or team deathmatch) with 10 bots with average intelligence!

So far these drivers are doing quite well for me and my 8500 :D UT2003 improved quite a bit, but I haven't checked out 3dmark 2001SE yet.

There are a lot of good performance improvements for the Radeon 9700. I was very surprised at some of the percentages they are claiming that these drivers increase performance. Let's see what they can do for an 8500...

I just installed the 3.1s. Counterstrike seems to be running better in 2x Quality FSAA mode (1024x768x32). I get almost a steady 85FPS throughout playing. It drops to 42 in the occasional grenade barrage or massive group of enemies, but otherwise it's solid. CS has never looked so good.

Neverwinter nights also runs at playable levels with the same settings enabled as I use in CS. It isn't smooth as a baby's bottom, but quality is more important in a game like this. I don't need 40+ FPS so that I can aim for the head properly. Kudos to ATi on another good driver release.

Drivers so far are not bad. I got an increase of 400points in 3dmark.
Though the new drivers STILL did not fix the mafia glitch issue :frown:
