According to the Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association (CTIA), SAR or specific absorption rate is "a way of measuring the quantity of radiofrequency (RF) energy that is absorbed by the body." For a phone to pass FCC certification, that phone's maximum SAR level must be less than 1.6W/kg (watts per kilogram). The SAR level listed in our chart represents the maximum SAR level with the phone next to the ear, a level obtained through required FCC tests.

Digital: 1.4597
Analog: .9255

Maybe that explains my decreasing knowledge.

I hope we all dont get brain cancer in 15 or 20 years.
Are the phone manufactures the ones we will be suing or the phone companies?
Or both?

I use a hands-free set most of the time now, but I have wondered if by leaving the phone clipped to my belt I'm just moving the cancer from my brain to my crotch. I'm not really sure which is worse. :p

You were just doing that because you had it in 'vibrate' mode.

Unless your crotch is actually using the phone conversing with other crotches or honeys, then you should not worry about it. The number you quoted is radiation during conversation not at idle/standby.

Yeah, but if you're using a hands-free set, then the phone is at your crotch while it's in use. Close enough, anyway. Especially when you use it while driving. Speaking of which, there is a good reason to have it on vibrate at your crotch while driving. If you regularly drive with music cranked up, you might not hear your phone ring. :D
