WHOOHOO... I'm back in the ranks of the EMPLOYED!!!

Yesterday I had a nice interview and lunch with the owner of the company.

He made me an offer that was a significant raise over my previous job plus a pretty decent benefits package.

I accepted his offer and begin work on Tuesday, June 1st.

11 months to the day from when I was laid off from my last job.

For those of you still looking... Hang in there... It looks like the IT job market is picking up a bit.

Now... to go have that celebratory drink that I've been waiting 11 months for...

Congratulations to you. Now, get those ties and suits out of the closet and take 'em to the dry cleaners so they're ready for you on Tuesday. 🙂

unless you've managed to score a job with casual or no dress codes 😀

Business casual... Dockers & oxford shirts. No ties. Fridays are jeans & "Izod" type shirts. "Nice" tennis shoes or OK on Fridays.

About the same as my last job. I'm REAL happy about the "no ties" part... I HATE wearing a tie!!!

LoL... the first day of my new job, I showed up in slack, dress shirt and tie, and they told me "This is the last time you'd come to work looking like that, you make us look bad" 😀

Congrats.

My view from the finance sector is pretty positive. I see alot of hirings and movement and get a bunch of headhunters calling too.

Congrats.
I was unemployed for 3 months short of 2 years till I got my current job last year, so I know how it feels. With the IT market picking up I'm probably going to tell my friend to find a new job, they work him slave hours and pay him crap.

No but this is LV.
Still cooking when you go home.

just passed my 1 month in my new job. Not as easy as neffing from home but it's a sweet job and the pay is much better 😉. Pretty much anything I need I can get. Business casual attire, jeans on fridays, no ties ever....nice office and PC with 21" monitor and upgraded speakers.

Company pays for just about every benefit I could imagine even short and long term disability and life, I started on the 15th and all my benefits including full health started on the 1st of the next month. At the end of the year they will buy back 100% of unused vacation / holiday time or allow you to carry it over..plus they encourage taking a two full weeks off at a time (or more).

Everyone gets along well here and it's more family than coworkers....people can bring kids and pets in if needed.

Today we get out at 3pm with pay and it's pretty busy right now...we were all thinking there is no way they can let us all leave early.

There are a few decent companies left out there.
