so i went for the first time a couple weeks ago and liked it so much i decided to ask for a board for christmas... i just bought everything (board, boots, bindings) yesterday. including tax, everything came out to 620 :Q. that's sale prices too... but the equipment is really nice, i took my really good snowboarding friend along to help me pick everything out and make sure the prices were right. the board and bindings are ride and i forget what the boots were. i'll get pics up once i pick it up (it's still at the store)... the board and bindings are just beautiful. anyways yea... the PNW is getting a lot of snow this year, so everything should be nice and powdery... perfect for falling down a lot as i learn :p great part is that my friend has pants she'll let me use for the whole season and she goes up with her bf once or twice a week (and i can come along.. we're all friends). anyways, i'm just excited to get up there... i think we're going up this sunday.

anybody here go snowboarding a lot (like once a week)? i don't know much about snow sports, wehre in the country can people do this? i know there's some mountains in cali that people can go to... and colorado, utah, idaho, obviously. what about east coast?

I used to go every other week, but now I just don't have the time (or money). Most places offer some type of season pass that can REALLY save you a lot of money on lift tickets if you go a few times a month. You should look into that in your area.

What board and bindings did you get, by the way? I'm thinking of retiring my board (an older Burton Twin), and I'm thinking of getting a Never Summer deck.

yea summit at snoqualmie (which is where we will be going) has unlimited (any day, any time, unlimited rides) passes for students for 250, which is a pretty good deal i think, considering a regular ticket costs 45 or something.

board and bindings were both ride... is that a good brand? my friend said they were good... i really don't know that much about brands aside from what i hear in commercials (saloman, k2, ride, burton...) . i wish i had pics so i could show you guys... the board (158) says "eastwood" on it, red and black, with silhoutted wild west gunmen... the bindings (strap) are red and have a faux budweiser logo and "king of bindings" on it :)

You think you're going to go a lot? :D

I have a season pass to 5 mountains that I live 1.5-2 hours away from. Already been skiing three times, and when I go back after winter break they have twice as many lifts open due to some nice snowfall. Can't wait!

If you want REAL skiing - none of that half-assed east coast crap - fly out to colorado for a week and ski. It's worth every penny.

Woohoo, my life is dull and I have never seen any other part of the US other then Texas. I have never ever seen real snow, just sleet and ice.

I'm going to college in Boulder, Colorado. Definitely a hot spot for skiing. As for east coast skiing, I lived in NY for 18 years, while my aunt lived in Boulder. We flew out here every year over presidents day break for ~10 years to go skiing, while back east we did 1, maybe 2 days of skiing a year at the local places.

If you're looking for variety, head to the Dillon/Frisco area of Colorado, Jackson Hole or Steamboat. I'm obviously biased, but Colorado has so many mountains that it's hard to beat ;)
