btw its football not soccer

footy is the real deal though

american football, that is a different story 😉

both are interesting in different ways though

go rooney (break arsenal's 49 game win streak 😉 )

Wrong. Unbeaten 49 game streak != 49 game win streak. And the more manure get worse, the better. They've had their decade of success and should die off.

you know arsenal will still suck it up in europe, all their premiership sucess apart, they are very naive and paranoid when it comes to playing in europe

drawing with rossenberg 😉

Ever see that clip on family guy, where there is a soccer game on tv and the announcer is saying "and the pass to "this guy" and the pass back to "the other guy" and a pass to, and a pass back to" etc. That about sums it up.

Both football and baseball are supposed to be slower paced, stopped play strategy games. Basketball has too much scoring and watching racing is incredibly boring unless you're baked off your ass. Hockey is great, but generally ruined in this country due to the NHL rules and determination to make it an extremely physical game.

I think lacrosse is one of the better sports to watch.

[soccer announcer]Center, back to forward, back to center... Center holds it... holds it... HOLDS IT!!!!![/soccer announcer]

It's the Simpsons, BTW.

Yea the simpsons, whatever.

I've watched enough professional soccer with my canadian friends. I just don't like it. It's not entertaining to me.

Yeah that's basically Italian soccer. 😉

As for real soccer, if you can get people to sit down for 20 mins and actually watch it, they tend to enjoy it. Unfortunately there is still too much of a xenophobic mentality here for people to accept something that, *gasp*, we didn't invent and don't dominate. And remember if it ain't American its crap!

Ah a fan of South American soccer I see. 😉

Sorry didn't mean to rant, just that a lot of people do write it off without ever giving it a chance. It's "un-American" image does hurt it here.

You're jumping to conclusions. I know plenty of hardcore soccer fans that are American.

Now if you flip the coin, you will see that this mentality is just the same anywhere else in the world.
Mention football(american) to a european and their noses will turn up faster than you say GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!

Ugh, don't get me started on Europeans and their impressions of American football... "pointyball" or "helmetball" as many of them call it...

Many of them are no better, though ironically many of them who emigrate to America learn to appreciate our sports.

I don't think you can compare anyone that's playing today with Maradona..... I could never seen Tevez even at his best in like 5 years coming even close to Maradona!

I know right. Tevez hasn't done enough cocaine yet to even hold Maradona's jockstrap.

first of all, MLS is simply AWFUL. Second, American soccer announcers are TERRIBLE. They sound like Golf Channel rejects.

Watch Latin American soccer with a real announcer, and it's good.
