Excellent! For one thing, the SETI effort needs the exposure most of all. For another, the SETI benchmarks will show a lot more interesting variation than the RC5 benchmark does. Hey, maybe we can get Anand to benchmark his web servers! =) (j/k!)

Benchmarking with Seti, except for the fact that it's installed on a few million computers, is/will be a tough road.

First, there will shortly be a shift in clients that will result in any benchmarking reflecting a pretty much linear scaling with clock speed, the weird memory bandwidth/chipset architecture dependencies seem to be almost gone in the beta for the new client.

Second, you must run the identical work units for each machine for the results to be statistically valid, there is too much variation between work units for results from non-identical sets of work units to be meaningfully compared.

As far as any hold up with respect to Anand, I think the fault is mostly ours. It's been months now and our progress on the consolidated TeamAnandTech Distributed Computing server seems to be glacial.

hellburner - I agree that its been slow. Much of that was due to us waiting on getting win2k server or whatever. That was horribly late. Now that mika's back, and win2k should be there, things SHOULD go quicker......we hope.
