Whoever knew contacting a roomate could be so hard?

I'm going to be starting college in a few weeks (21st), and like most people, would like to talk to my roomate, just to see what's going on, who's bringing what, etc. But, the phone number the school provided me doesn't work. Whoever this kid is, he's set up his school email account, but apparently isn't checking it yet. 411 has no knowledge of him living at the address provided. I've emailed the school, but what are the odds that they have two phone numbers for him? And, I got all this stuff two and a half weeks ago, and have been trying to contact him, but he's made no attempt to get in touch with me. I know my phone number is correct. So, what kind of person doesn't give the school his right phone number, and for some reason won't call his roommate? It just seems very strange.

I never contacted my roommate when moving to college the first time.

Eh, well, I guess since all my friends have already talked to theirs, setting up who's bringing the tv, the refrigerator, etc., I just assumed it was SOP.

Talking to your roomate is normal...don't listen to all these people. 🙂 I do find it quite odd that you can't get in touch with him and he hasn't contacted you.

I find it weird that you called 411, his number, wrote him an email and called the school in order to talk to your roommate. I would have called a couple times, and then stopped after that.

Maybe it's time to do a late-night drive by of his house, and snap some pictures while you're at it. I'll bring the night-vision goggles! 🙂

EDIT: But, I did talk to my roommate last summer. However, I did not exhaust ALL methods of contact in a 20 minute period.
