Who'd feed their infants and toddlers junk food?

Saw this article about this in the newspaper today.

Salient points:

-Significant numbers of infants and tots are downing french fries, pizza, candy, and soda
-Median intake for 12 - 24 month olds is 1,220 calories, a 30% excess over the required 950 calories per day
-Up to a third of the children younger than 2 consumed no fruits or vegetables
-More than 60% of 12 month olds had desert or candy at least once a day, the number rose to 70% by 19 months

The study found that parents were largely ignoring widley accepted practices by allowing:

-29% of infants to eat soild food before they were 4 months old
-17% to drink juice before 6 months
-20% to drink cow's milk before 12 months

It's not surprising that about 1 in every 5 Americans is now considered obese, double that rate of the mid-1980s.

my 4 year old son almost never gets sweets and candy. I don't let people give him candy.

He never drinks soda. he only drinks milk (sometimes chocolate milk) and usually juice diluted with water. He also brushes his teeth almost twice a day. I've seen too many kids that have rotten teeth and need fillings at a very young age.

but he is a finicky eater 🙁 he loves pizza and chicken nuggets.

It's all about the money.

The companies who make junk food and the fast food restaurants dont care about your health.

I have no doubt about that. Our government is as corrupt as ever and we have a spineless population, thanks to crap like Political Correctness.
