Unfarkingbelievable! I moved and now my DSL download speed is 83KB/Sec! I supposedly had the same speed before, which was supposed to be 768 down, but never got more than 32KB/Sec. This is great. Not only am I maxing it, but exceeding it. Me so happy! :D

i've gotten about 160Kb/sec before. the biggest bottleneck for my DSL is the speed of the other server. i can usually download 3 things or more at once and the speeds of each won't change regardless of how many items i have downloading(within reason)

Lucky stiffs!

We'll probably get DSL in 2034-- just in time for my hundredth birthday.

Yup, I got hooked up with my 512/256 ADSL about 2 weeks ago and it's great :) My downloads tend to be around 59KB/sec, so I'm not quite as quick as you two ;)

My wireless has maxed out at 110KB/sec on Napster throughout the whole song.......But that is about the highest I've gotten.

Our service for $40 CDN (US$26 incl. modem and networking card) is 1 Mbit down. Only 128 up though. I may switch later when I move. 1.5 down and 256 up I think for the same price from another reseller.

P.S. Welcome back Wiz. Long time no see... err.. post.

8008S, really? Pacbell was my other choice, but the locals said stay away from it, but that may be because the one I have is closer to the CO.

Hi Eug! :D

Not really, I am getting enhanced DSL soon which is $60 and that includes extra IP's (5) so I'll be able to host more than my own site. The actual troughput speed avg's out @ www.2wire.com to 1200kpbs down and 131kpbs up, which is about 180k down actual....;)

I don't understand why some people despise pacbell's DSL. I was looking to upgrade to the 5 static IP just like shux as well :)

SWbell (despite their quirks), puts up a good DSL service. We get 1.5m down for $30. :)

I hate you west coasters :( Over here on the east coast.. i have to pay $90 for 144/144 IDSL.... well, i don't have it... that's the ONLY option I have a available tho... damn nearly 17000 ft between me and the phone co. My friend knows someone that pays just about the same, and lives like right next door to the telco... 1.5 both ways supposedly. UGH.

Aww I don't really hate you, I just hate the telephone company cause it's been a year and half and every time I call they say it will be another year!:|

Just ran Shuxclam's test:Welcome to the 2Wire Bandwidth Meter:

This meter will accurately determine your maximum throughput to our Web site.
Status:
Test completed...
Bandwidth = 3090.9 Kbps

Compuwiz1, Nope, that was a copy paste, and a first attempt, not a cashe load. Heres a slower one, also a paste:

Text Test (Results)
Loaded 1,000,000 bytes in 3.74 seconds.
Your throughput is 2139* Kbps.

How does your speed compare with TOAST.net?

I waited 62 days, to no avail, for DSL installation from Southwestern Bell.

Became fed up with the entire matter. Called Time Warner on a Sunday evening at 10 PM. Had cable the following Saturday installed.

Really wanted DSL though. But cable has been good. Get about 152K download normally. On occasion 240K.

Hey Compuwiz, do you use GTE/Verizon as your telco? Cause if you do, that would explain your 32KB to 83KB jump. Alot of times, GTE/Verizon provisions Bronze Plus customers(which is what your getting at 768/128) with the standard Bronze package which is 256/64. I had this same problem too and it took about 5 phone calls to get this straightened out.:p:D
